It's being built by a private company and the government is under no obligation to support it.

Their shares aren't doing too well though.

Hopefully this proposal won't take so long. The renders are pretty much all the same though.

i think that Dubai now the reference of whole world....everybody now compare its new project with Dubai based any construction and this shows that Dubai is now on world map where only Newyork or Hongkong can stand so what ever projects now come is because of jealously of DUBAI but DUbai hasnt to worry about that cause it already two world heighet projects is going on........

I think taht UAE_Condor wanted to say is that since we knew the project of the Burj Duabi it has increased 100 meters each year, so in 2008 will be 1300 meters more or less

I am preety sure its more than that. But the main point of this isn't that it creates more energy than methods already available, rather it creates energy cleanly and is more efficient than other forms of clean energy.

A 750m tower with the best tech around should produce 200mgwatts. A 1000m tower would produce more now.

I can live with 200 MW for a 750 meter structure but 40 was a little too low. However what is the cost benefit of going with one of these instead of usual fossil fuels?

its all a question of 3 things: necessity, money and know-how. once these three things
are in place they will find a cheap way of building these as well..
