The thing I find interesting about this stack idea, is that you are putting up this huge concrete structure and no doubt it's very strong. You might as well line the tower with buildings, offices, condos, etc... They would all be powered by the tower, and I bet it would sell especially if you can say you live in the world's tallest tower. You could probably get the thing to pay for itself instantly, not to mention the long term profits from power.

In addition, global warming makes you even more money, rather then the opposite. In fact, even if the land is flooded from global warming, the solar collector would just need to be raised and it would be functional. This means you could potentially live in a self-powered supertall that's visible from space and surrounded by water. Sound's awesome!
