TWO NEW TRAINS FROM MUMBAI : GORAKHPUR ANTYODAYA AND PATNA HUMSAFAR EXPRESS!



The Antyodaya Express is a fully unreserved train and will run between Bandra(T) and Gorakhpur stations. It has been designed with special features for the benefit of passengers i.e more comfortable journey, cushioned luggage racks, additional hand hold in doorway area, vestibuled ends for inter coach movement of passengers and service staff, water purifiers, enhanced number of mobile charging points, bio-toilets, fire extinguishers and anti-graffiti measures have been adopted for the interior and exterior of the train.
Train No 22921 Bandra (T)-Gorakhpur Weekly Antyodaya Express will depart from Bandra (T) every Sunday at 5.10 hrs to reach Gorakhpur the next day at 17.35 hrs. Similarly, in the return direction Train No 22922 Gorakhpur-Bandra (T) Weekly Antyodaya Express will depart from Gorakhpur every Tuesday at 3.15 hrs to arrive Bandra (T) next day at 16.15 hrs.
The regular service of Train No 22921 Ex Bandra (T) will be from 20th August 2017 and of Train No 22922 Ex Gorakhpur from 22nd August 2017. The train comprises of Sixteen General coaches.
The train will halt at Borivali, Surat, Vadodara, Ratlam, Kota, Bharatpur, Mathura Jn, Kasganj, Kanpur Central, Lucknow, Gonda and Naugarh in both directions.



Humsafar Express which will run between Bandra (T) and Patna, is a fully Air Conditioned train having 3 Tier coaches with GPS based Passenger information display system. It also has Passenger Announcement System, Fire and Smoke detection and suppression system, CCTVs, Comfortable seats, Mobile and laptop charging points and Integrated Braille display. The train adorns an improved aesthetics with new interior and exterior colour scheme presenting a futuristic look.
Train No 22913 Bandra (T)-Patna Weekly Humsafar Express will depart from Bandra (T) every Sunday at 12.55 hrs to reach Patna the next day at 22.15 hrs. Similarly, in the return direction Train No 22914 Patna -Bandra (T) Weekly Humsafar Express will depart from Patna every Tuesday at 23.10 hrs to arrive Bandra (T) on Thursday at 7.35 hrs.
The regular service of Train No 22913 Ex Bandra (T) will be from 20th August 2017 and of Train No 22914 Ex Patna from 15th August 2017. The train comprises of Sixteen 3-Tier AC coaches.
This train will halt at Vapi, Valsad, Udhna, Nandurbar, Bhusaval, Itarsi, Jabalpur, Katni, Satna, Chheoki and Mughalsarai stations in both directions.

This video comprises the INAUGURATION ceremony of 22913/4 BDTS-PNBE Exp and INTERIORS of this new age luxury train of Indian Railways.

This fully 3-tier AC train has CCTV cameras, LED TV screen displaying train information & speed, side curtains, announcement system, urinals in toilet with sensors, improved design of ladder to climb up to upper berth, reading lamp for each berth, fire/smoke alarm system, bio toilets etc

Also, you can see 22921/2 BDTS-GKP Antydaya Exp on pf 2 of BDTS with BRC WAP-5 30087 waiting for a green flag to be waved.

22913 BDTS Bandra Terminus - PNBE Patna Humsafar Exp was with BRC WAP-5 30070.

Mumbai Auto Door Closing Local EMU train- First Commercial Run

Here is a video of the first commercial run of MRVC EMU equipped with automatic door closing system, similar to Metro trains. (I recorded this in March 2015)

It's a good start but I am hopeful we will see changes/modification in the system in coming days.

Following are my suggestions to WR:

There should be a software or mechanically controlled system wherein a guard can press the door opening switch as soon as the train enters platform at 35-40kph. The system will ensure that doors open as soon as the train speed comes below 5kph.

This will ensure that there is no manual delay or lag in stopping a train and guard switching the door opening button. 4-5Kph is the normal human walking speed so it would not be a problem if doors open after train speeds go below 5kph. In the above video, it can be seen that doors opened almost after 5sec of the train coming to a halt. This lag can be overcome if above suggestion is taken up seriously.

In Mumbai trains run at every 3min gap during peak hours with a halt time of 22sec which may go upto 30sec at big stations like DDR/ADH/BVI. Already trains find it difficult to maintain schedule and with auto doors, the halt time will increase further by around 10sec resulting into further delaying of trains

Auto doors is a WELCOME step but railways should not merely copy the metro system but modify it according to the saturated and busy Mumbai suburban section.

Also, door design should be modified to ensure more natural light enters during day time.

Siemens rake has forced ventilation/air blowers. It should be ensured that this system runs especially in these rakes.

Route Diverted trains that run through Central Railways diverted via Western line due to Derailment of 12290 Nagpur Mumbai Duronto Express between Asangaon and Vasind stations of Central Railways Suburban line to Kasara...!!

This video covers 12617 Mangala Lakshwadeep Express, 12542 Sant Kabir Dham Express and 11059 Godan Express, that usually run via Kalyan - Nashik Bhusawal Route, being diverted via Kopar - Vasai - Udhana - Jalgaon route..

Mangala Lakshwadeep Express was powered by GOC WDP4D 40445, Sant Kabir Dham Express was powered by Bhusawal (Wrongly mentioned as Itarsi in Video) WAP4 22928 and Godan Express was powered by Itarsi WAP4 22569.

I took a short ride in 09622 Bandra Terminus - Ajmer Special Fare Special train during summer. It surprisingly came with a Krishnarajapuram shed based WDP 4D #40285. The trip began with a special spotting of Air-Conditioned EMU of Mumbai. Shatabdi overtook us at Borivali itself. The run was non-stop from Borivali to Surat. However, there were some slow downs. There was another special spotting of 31000, the first WAG 9 locomotive of Indian Railways at Boisar. There was a mild rain near Vapi which was followed by bright sun light after some time. Overall the train was empty and the journey was quite nice,

NEW RAJDHANI EXPRESS INAUGURATED ON TRIAL BASIS!



After a trial run railways decided to introduce a faster and apparently cheaper Rajdhani Express for festive period on trial basis. This ushered a new ERA in Indian Railways after years of working on they have finally managed to put MU WAP 5 on commercial service of a train.
30117+30125/GZB WAP 5 led 04006 Hazrat Nizamuddin - Bandra Terminus Rajdhani Special Inaugural run departed Delhi on 16 October, 2017 .

In its regular run :
Train no 09003 Bandra Terminus - Nizamuddin Tri-Weekly AC Superfast Rajdhani Special will start at 16.05 hrs from Bandra Terminus and reach Nizamuddin at 06.00 hrs next day. The travel time is 13 hours 55 minutes. The days of Ex Bandra Terminus are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Similarly, Train no 09004 Nizamuddin – Bandra Terminus Tri-Weekly AC Superfast Rajdhani Special will start at 16.15 hrs from NZM and reach Bandra Terminus at 06.10 hrs next day. The days of run ex NZM are Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Similarly, This train will have stoppages at Surat, Vadodara and Kota stations o*nly. The special Rajdhani Express train will comprise of first AC, 2AC and 3ACs coaches and pantry car.

With the introduction of new Rajdhani Express, the travel time will be reduced from the existing time of about 15 hrs. 50 minute to 13 hours 55 minutes i.e. a saving of around 2 hours in journey time. The new service is planned to be commenced as a tri-weekly special service with o*nly o*ne rake and shall provide faster rail connectivity between Delhi and Mumbai and great convenience to passengers. This train will be introduced o*n experimental basis for three months from Oct 16, 2017 to Jan 17, 2018 to gauge the response of the travelling public to a concept of flat increase in fare against existing flexi-fare, all berths being available for booking o*n the date of opening, facility for optional catering and early arrival into Mumbai/Delhi before rush hours.

Inaugural Mumbai/BDTS - Delhi/NZM Super Rajdhani Exp with Twin MUed WAP5 showing raw aggressive acceleration

09003 BDTS-NZM Super Rajdhani Exp or the Maha Rajdhani Exp with 12,000HP Twin MUed WAP5 30117+30125 showing its raw & aggressive acceleration after negotiating 50kph PSR at ADH north and skipped JOS at 100kph.

The later part of the video also shows the visuals from BDTS for its inaugural from Ex Mumbai. The train was fully occupied for all the 3 classes.

Work on the mega USD$11 Billion dedicated freight corridors is taking place at full swing. Once complete, existing freight trains on the most congested routes will be diverted to these tracks, allowing for existing rail routes to carry more,faster passenger trains

First AC Local Train for Mumbai on Western Railway

This is the video of Air Conditioned EMU Local train doing a trial run on Mumbai's Western Railway. It was a big surprise for me seeing this train coming and hence I could not prepare myself to capture this.

One good thing about this train is that it has vestibules which connect all the coaches just like our long distance trains. Even Mumbai Metro coaches have vestibule which means people can move from one coach to another inside the train.

Position of motor coaches in this train are 1 (first),6,7,12 )last).

In all probability, this may be the new year gift by railways to Mumbai. Proposed fare structure if approved then it will cost Rs.10 for 5km and 60km of Churchgate-Virar will cost Rs.85. In comparison, First Class ticket between Churchgate-Virar cost Rs.170.

When we look at the fare structure of long-distance intercity trains, fare system on Indian Railways has been traditionally lower for AC Chair car compared to Non-AC First Class. (Non-AC FC is now in hardly few trains).

Mumbai's First AC Local Special run + Interior + Dadar Halt and doors closing

This is the special AC Local train for WR officials organised on 24th Dec, 2017, prior to the official public inauguration on 25th Dec, 2017.

This is the special Christmas and New Year gift from WR. On regular basis it will run 12 services per day and only on 5 days a week from Monday to Friday.

Single journey fare will be 1
3 times (1.2 times promotional fare for 6 months) the basic First class fare.

Season passes will be available on Weekly, Fortnightly and Mnthly basis only. Fare for the same will be charged as equal to 5, 7.5, 10 single journey respectively.

Since this is a AC servuce so additional GST 5% will be charged.

Each coach has 15 ton roof mounted AC unit.
