Has anyone heard anything lately about the "Vistas on the Lake" condo development by CIMG across from Druid Lake on Druid Park Lake Dr? I am familiar with the renderings on CIMG's website. However, CIMG's website is not exactly a reliable source. It says that this project is scheduled to completed by the fall of 2006. Any additional info would be great.

Per the Baltimore Development Corporation:

300 East Pratt is expected to commence construction in Fall 2008.

10 Inner Harbor is still expected to have the same programming, but the developers have yet to release final plans due to the current market.

That original design is indeed a good laugh. Glad that never panned out.

Garage blown up for new hospital tower
A thick cloud of dust covers downtown after the old Pleasant Street garage implosion Sunday.

Kelsey Volkmann, The Baltimore Examiner

BALTIMORE - The earth shook as dynamite blasts roared louder than thunderclaps, waking up residents throughout Baltimore and thumping within the chests of spectators gathered to watch an early-morning implosion Sunday.

Within seconds, the old Pleasant Street parking garage collapsed, sending an acrid cloud of brown dust over downtown and making way for Mercy Medical Center’s new $400 million patient tower.

Ten minutes before the blast, the detonation had lured 30 or so gawkers to the corner of Guilford Avenue and Pleasant Street. Others waited by their cars parked on the shoulder of the Jones Fall Expressway.

Brian Daily brought his 7-year-old, Luke.

“This is something different to do,” he said, a surgical mask hanging from his neck.

“And it’s kind of a bonding time for us.”

A trio of 20-somethings wandered over from the nearby farmer’s market, carrying omelets and homemade bread after staying up all night playing guitars for change.

Shane Burke, Josiah Orsie and Steve Dewey decided to watch the garage crash to the ground before they crashed.

It will take workers a month to remove the 22,000 tons of debris. Crews expect to break ground for the 18-story patient tower this spring and plan to finish building in 2010.

The current tower houses more than 250 inpatient beds, but most patients have to share a room, Mercy President and CEO Thomas R. Mullen said in a statement.

“Private rooms are now the standard of care because they reduce the risk of infection, medication errors and falls, and are simply more comfortable for patients,” Mullen said.

The old tower will house offices for doctors and administrators.

Tim Taylor, a worker for Potts & Callahan demolition company, brought his wife, Lauren, to show her the fruit of his extra-long work days wrapping the garage columns with chain-link fence in preparation for blowing it up.

“It’s incredible to see something so big come down so fast,” he said.

10 Inner Harbor

I think the 10 Inner Harbor will EVENTUALLY get Approved by ALL design panels and the city, but it will take a little while longer. The reason that Emporis doesnt have it as Approved yet is because it isnt fully approved by all members, but I think it will eventually.Taking this long to approve the 10 Inner Harbor building is causing MANY delays and it wont be complete in 2010 anymore.Instead,it will be complete around late 2011 to early 2012O Yea,and about the Legg Mason,it will be complete by 2009,but LATE 2009 since it they really haven't started construction yet.Even thought this is a little off topic, why is it that San Diego, such a large city, only allows 500 ft as their height limit for skyscrapers?

The Icon isnt going to be built since Emporis has it as "Never Built" and i dont think Canton isnt going to expand anymore than the 1st Mariner Bank. This is just my strong opinion.
