There are no slums in Moscow. That is what commieblocks were built for, so that everyone would have an apartment. There can only be some kind of a temporary slum because the winter would kill everyone. What you probably saw on satellite image is this. At the time of commieblock construction private cars were nonexistent in USSR so there were no garages built but now people have cars, and winters are tough so they have to keep them somewhere so these private booths for cars popped up everywhere in Russia.

Maybe not slums, but there are some SERIOUSLY poor and shabby places. I have seen them. Horrible. Semi-slums.

But the central parts are well maintained for the most part and you can sense that some people in the city have serious money.

Since an average tourist like you can see those slums then you can surely point at them on the map and there must be an abundance of photos to prove it? Or not?

Unless you have confused some shacks and those private garages with slums the only thing you could have seen are run-down facades but that's about it. It's got nothing to do with this.

Would like this offtopic to end, but well it's rather interesting to see that some Westerners can confuse these ugly garages with slums.

Well, I agree these garage clusters look damn f***g ugly.

By the way in Moscow there are no so-called semislums or slums or even quarterslums or whatever you think. If there are some, then prove it by posting pictures.

It is true. Mostly garages, warehouses, old factories, some abandoned buildings. Byt winters are too cold for slums.

we don't have slums in Moscow and Minsk because our dear leaders being former CPSU members improve standards of living in the Union of Russia and Belarus constantly.

I think you don't understand difference between industrial buildings and living houses. There are only few places in the world where industrial zones are looks good.

Well, I live in one of these houses. Yes, the facade looks poorly. But a few years ago my family did a repair in my room and I have no problems with housing conditions (digital television, high-speed Internet, etc.). If the city government wants to demolish my house and offer me an apartment in the new house, I'll be against it because I don't want to start from scratch. As for the poor facade, I don't make sense to look at it because I live inside.

It's not like there aren't any poor people in Germany aswell.
Use your brain and don't believe everything you see on biased TV.
