It was pretty top secret.... not sure why they do not want to share that info as it is something that would make the public excited. Imagine promising rain the heat of the summer months?! Wow!

Anything that is artificial and goes against mother nature cannot be good for our environment. Who knows what side effects there will be using silver oxide or whatever they use to make artificial clouds. You would have thought the government would have made an announcement prior to this experiment, just so the population knew what was going on when the heavens opened up so unexpectedly during the summer months?

For those in Dubai long enough to remember, there were several years in the 1980's and 1990's when the monsoon was strong enough to cause rain in July in Dubai.

If I remember correctly, 1996 was the wettest July on record with about a week of rain in Dubai.

First 10 days of Ramadan in UAE likely to be extremely hot

Quote:
Al Ain: Forecasters have indicated extremely hot weather in the first 10 days of Ramadan.

The high temperatures are expected all over the Arabian Peninsula, including the UAE.

It is expected to be hot, dry, and hazy in the day time, and humidity is expected to be high in the afternoon and evening.

Winds coming in from the sea can actually push humidity levels to higher rates in the coastal and some desert areas

Forecasters do not expect any rain.

Weather to be clear but warm during Eid

Quote:
Dubai: Good news to people celebrating the Eid Al Fitr holidays. Weather forecasters expect the temperature to reduce a bit.

According to a weather forecaster, a clear, but warm weather will prevail in the country over the next three days with chances of rain over the eastern and southern parts of the UAE.

“People may go outdoors and party because the weather is going to be just okay,” he said.

It will be hot in general and hazy at times with temperatures ranging between 31C to 45C, and with humidity levels of 20 to 75 per cent.

The relative humidity is likely to increase over some coastal areas, especially westward, in the evening and early morning.

As fog descends on Dubai hopes for winter weather rise

Anwar Ahmad

Oct 9, 2012

Thick morning fog over Dubai marina this morning, but does it mean winter is finally here? Mark Asquith / The National

Well the weathermen predicted it and they got it right as fog rolled into Dubai and Abu Dhabi this morning, with visibility dropping between 250 and 500 metres.

In Abu Dhabi, the visibility dropped to 250 metres. The visibility was better in the Western Region, at 800 metres.

The fog covered Abu Dhabi Airport, the city itself and parts of Liwa and Madinat Zayed in the Western Region, an official at the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology said. The fog set in at Abu Dhabi around 5 am, he said.

In Jebel Ali and southern Dubai, the visibility dropped to 400 to 500 metres as mist blanketed the region between 4.30am and 8am.

Yesterday, motorists travelling through parts of the UAE were told to be cautious because of fog by the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology.

Rain reported in Dubai – and it may rain again today and tomorrow

The UAE’s weatherman is predicting a pleasant weekend ahead even as there were reports yesterday of morning showers in Dubai’s Jebel Ali area, and the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) reckons that more areas could experience rain over today and tomorrow.

The NCMS, the UAE’s official weather forecaster, says that the country’s northern, eastern and island areas are set to witness an increase in the cloud cover, with chances of rain over some of these areas.

Yesterday’s showers in Dubai’s Jebel Ali area were reported around 9.30am and are said to have lasted for about 15 to 20 minutes, bringing temperatures down.

Frankenstorm hits Dubai......

Rough seas, dusty weather predicted

Police in Dubai and Abu Dhabi urge caution on roads due to low visibility caused by dusty winds

By Aftab Kazmi, Bureau Chief
Published: 17:03 October 29, 2012

Police in Dubai and Abu Dhabi urged caution on roads due to low visibility caused by dusty winds.

Abu Dhabi police has issued a warning for motorists to drive carefully as the western UAE coastline has come under the influence of a bad weather system.

Strong winds, poor visibility, and thunderstorms and rain in some areas have been created tougher driving conditions. Air traffic has also been affected out of Abu Dhabi airport.

The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology has put out a rough sea warning and asked people to be cautious when going out into sea.

Cumulus clouds, thunderstorms and lightning will cause severe disturbance at sea, a statement from NCMS said.

Motorists driving along valleys should take extra caution as landslides, strong winds and low visibility are forecast.

Given the forecasts in recent days... If Shakespeare was alive and living in Dubai, he would be asking the question: To rain or not to rain?
