what makes you think its a stick? the envelope above the tower is angled just like adjacent DB place. could be a large enclosed glass fin like Q1 or Aurora. again, ill post some pix tommorow if time allows and its actually lodged.

gees what’s the obsession with having a massive building?
I prefer quality over quantity any day
Infact I don’t see a need for massive/tall buildings

Well, when you haven't seen anything truly tall in a while you start to get desperate.

Having said that, I do agree quality is better than quantity.

Oh, and Meriton doesn't count. Its cheap painted facade really ruins the design (which is a shame because it has a great shape).

You want the building designed properly, and approved, give the architect time to do the job.

Oh I am not sure about it, I know it is a concept, but I think the Deutche Bank frame and this one actually interfere with one another, if we are going to have these dumb arse arc features etc then lets keep them seperate, there is way too much going on with buildings so close.

I'd be surprised if the arc feature remains that "large" in the final design anyway.

Is the architectural feature actually glass box or just frames?

It looks unoriginal and not that inspiring.

That would just be the envelope. Remember, we're only seeing the conceptual.

I think both Cariad and Muse are right - an arc would look silly next to DB, but it would be good for the building to step down to Capita. The council should forget about FSR and just let them build 193m to roof; I think they need to make both the height and FSR limits a bit more flexible.

the slopped roof follows the sun access plane down to martin place. The max fsr atm for any site in sydney is 12;1 for office. the 120m height is basically the max you can achieve with goodsells small plot.so anything above this is arc feature.
the design comp which will follow may have some entrants designing a similar cage to DB place or may not have anything above roof at all.
the developers just thought it was a good idea to show council what can be achieved for the site.
is this clear?

btw, i chatted to a guy today about sydney's low FSR (12;1) and he said there are talks underway by property council to lift the max potential FSR to 15;1 or above. this would add 5-10storeys to any new DAs .bout time. Sydney is running out of sites and we need tall thin towers not short fat ones.

Perfectly.

If the tower ends up being 120m without any striking arc feature, just leave the Goodsell Building as is.

(BTW vag, I never thought it would look silly - I have no idea. I want to see the final design like the others, I'm sure)
