I like 20FS since day1 but I'm not sure about the white 'coating'...is the color relevant, I'm skeptical, it stands out too much for my liking. Still a very original highrise though.

Personally I think the nimbies should be blamed the most for this sunbeam thing happening. If they hadn't cut down the original height, the design wouldn't have been changed and the balconies on the facade would have remained and not have caused this reflection issue. It would have looked more proportional as well.

To a ceratin degree i completely agree with you. But what has happened has happened...

20 FS, Canary Wharf LTD and the authorities CAN and WILL solve this problem. You are right, it shouldn't have happened in the first place but this is just a minor set back.

On the plus side, the tower has given London even more global publicity on London's new highrises and skyscraper ambitions! The skyline is being featured more and more in the media, Film, Programmes, etc etc

That last picture is STUNNING. Absolutely beautiful.

Does anyone have any idea when this will T/O? I presume it will be when the roof if completed because it is technically still rising. Any guestimates?

Unfortunately, it's the context, not the build quality that's the problem. Yes, it looks brilliant in those close up shots. It's a shame the effect it has on the skyline though, where it looms ungraciously hunchbacked over the River.

Pleased with this building's quality, but it's not the right building for its location.

e.g.

I agree. Still, at least it isn't a horrible building and in a bad location!
