Thanks Pan for the projects happening in Kyiv. Quite a bunch of grand projects that will no doubt alter the skyline significantly.

I really like the memorial to Ukraines war victims. Very impressive structure.

Keep us updated on these projects and the many others.

Thanks ^

Riverfront complete reconstruction project. Already partially U/C. Right now there's a highway going there, but according to the project, highway will be placed in a tunnel while the upper part will be turned into a nice pedestrian, touristy riverfront.

^the riverfront looks really great, has that small old town charm along the banks, and the bridge itself looks great, contrasting between new and... old-new

The bridge is actually not new. It's from soviet era. It's fully pedestrian. The only thing I don't like about the riverfront is its name, which is "Riverfront of European Union!" - that's so cheesy and cheap, sounds like we're yelling to EU "Hey, we like EU, take us!"..

New commieblock district. Great if you like urban living. These commieblocks are very comfortable places to live, but their external designs are of questionable beauty

A very tall commieblock. 40-50 floors?

It's all under construction.

i like the memorial, but the "commieblocks" how can they design such ugly areas. Do they park the cars inside the commieblock tower?

Commieblocks will be built as long as majority are not rich enough to buy separate houses. But many would still prefer to live in the city, so some sort of commieblocks will always be built.

Another business cluster. Highest tower to be about 50 floor high and smaller one of around 40 floors. Others might vary from 20 to 35. It's not certain yet.

KYIV | Київ

Considering how most of you probably don't visit Ukrainian section, I thought I'd keep you up to date with what is going on in Kyiv. Unless this is now strictly a Balkan forum and you don't give a .. food remains..

So I'll see how interested you are.

I guess I'll start with several "approved" and "under constructions"

Approved
101 floors
Height not certain, but possibly around 470 meters.
Investors are now making last changes as to what they want on different floors. Process of clearing the area for it has begun. Final design is said to have less glass than the rendering below.

Under construction
Elsburg office tower. 136 meters high.

Pic by Ukrainian member "Max"

This is a maquette of an first business cluster area that is going up. You can see Elsburg here, the tower in front of it is now Under Construction as well, but we don't have any other renderings. Its going to be around the same height as Elsburg.

3 residential towers, each of 35 floors, 119 meters. Under construction.

On the left:

Six residential towers, 35 floors, 138 meters high. Under construction.

2.19.06

More later...

I'm never too far from the Ukrainian section
So the Elsburg plaza is 136m, eh? First it was 140, then it went to 120, either way, it looks really tall in its location.
Otherwise I'm interested in seeing how the "trizub" (or however you spell it in Ukrainian) does, it would be the tallest in Europe if built, but somehow I'm still not convinced it will go through. Even if they are clearing the area, I'm never too sure about construction in EE countries

Yes, Elsburg's height was not certain but now Max is sure that its 136. I'll post the rendering of the tower near it (forming the cluster ) which will be like 130-140m as well, as soon as we find it...

As to the super tall, you're right, there are always scams and scandals so we'll see how it goes, but right now it involves the most known architect and have been approved on all official meetings. We'll have one of the forumers go to that location and see what's going on there. But right now the talks are now getting more and more specific, like construction of a glass bridge across the highway from the subway station to have direct access to the sksycraper.
