D80 is an excellent piece, but I would recommend the D200, if you can pay the extra money. It will take you VERY far. On the other hand, if you wish to put the money towards better lenses, then D80 will be just as good.

I need to become part of this thread

So i am owning an E-500 now with the Fl-36 Flash, the 17-45mm F3.5, Sigma 55-200mm F3.5 and the Olympus 14.5-54mm F2.8

The next one i want to get is the 8mm Fisheye F3.5 but it is some 800 €...

Will post some pictures later or tomorrow.

I do a lot of landscape and urban photos and nowadays Party and Eventphotography for www.eraffe.de which is pretty funny but danger for the camera
Well it brings money for the Fisheye lens so..

The D200 is quite big.. i used both D70 and D80 as well as D200 for some shots (u get a lot of cameras to see and try in this job ) and i preferred the D80.

ok a fuller report after maybe 50 frames tonight. Simply put, its superb. Definitely soft(er) at 1.8, but that is to be expected. By softer I mean compared to its excellent performance at f/4. Wide open its still better than my kit lens was ide open (the kit lens must be stepped to f/8 is look decent) Every canon user should have one. It was like $75 with shipping from b&h, $40 less than the kit. Af and build quality arent great, but at this price cant complain
heres a unedited 100% crop of one of the many favs from tonight. f/4 1/60 ISO 800

Hi all forumers! This is my first time in this section. I do photography too. I had Nikon D50. By the way, how do you clean your sensor when it got dust?

And an 18-200mm is pretty nearly the perfect lens. I've got a D200 and the 18-200 almost never comes off.

Until you want to shoot indoors or encounter other low-light opportunities.

unless you want to make huge prints, you can boost ISO a little and the 18-200 can do wonders indoors with the VR.

there are pics taken indoors, and VERY low light as you can see, no tripod, f4-f8, iso1000, 1/8s, no post processing... even at 200mm I was able to get good shots. Of course those are resized and I would not print them huge, but it's plenty enough instead of having a 200mm f2.8 that weight a ton, is huge and costs a fortune. Unless you shoot weddings for $, IMO the 18-200 is very capable of great pics.

ahd for closer subjects, a handheld SB600 or 800 makes a very good job.
