The cladding was definitely worth the wait! I actually think this is the best way to watch a building get built, it's interesting to the whole structure complete and then the cladding put on.

i like the tower, but they could not possibly take more time than they already have. i mean foundation was done in 2006 right? 6 years for a tower not even 1000 ft tall, and its still not done!?

You're not taking into account that the construction was put on hold for sometime. Besides that, the cladding, as far as I know, was changed as the original one presented some problems.

The tower will be ready later this year, but by July 2013, according to the press, in one year we will see more progress than before, stop the construction by the economic crisis, the curtain wall of the tower had already been list, which came wrong, so they had to repair them all to the U.S., probably the tower would be much more complete now.

Now in english:

Yes, the construction overall has been slow, BUT:

1) You have to take earthquake-readyness into account; building in Chile, on top of a seismic fault is not the same as building in Dubai.
2) It's the first project of this magnitude in the country. (the continent really)
3) It was put on hold for a year due to the financial crisis.
4) The cladding had to be changed due to the poor quality of the original chinese one.
5) It's part of a much bigger complex, including the biggest shopping mall in latin america.

6) Building withstood an 8.2 on the Richter (earthquake lasted over 1:30) Chicago dude over there doesn't know that. Not trying to get anyone riled up or anything, but, the entire Chi-town skyline would be on the floor if it had experienced an 8.2. Just saying...

Actually, for my reference, just how strong is the 'average' building that is not built in a seismic region? Would it be safe to say that an 8.2 would have many other cities in ruin or am I exaggerating (proly not)? On that note, what is the CC supposed to withstand, 9, 9.5? And how may earthquakes of that magnitude is it supposed to withstand?

8.8.

It was so strong that it moved Earth's figure axis about 3 inches.

The magnitude of an earthquake is only one, in this case, 8.8. Intensity is something else; according to seismological service in Chile, the intensity in Concepción was IX and in Santiago, VIII (Mercalli scale).

I do not remember how many stories of the building had been built when the earthquake hit. I guess that has something to do with getting or not getting damaged but I do remember the nearby Titanium was completed and resisted the tremor very well.
