That new 50-story building will stand at 588 ft tall. Check out the picture taken by our sleuth, BVictor1. So, would you want it denied?

I actually like this tower quite a bit. Not sure what it is particularly, but I find it attractive nonetheless.

Looks like a cross between Waterview and Park Tower. I like it.

^Huh? I can understand somewhat about it reminding someone of Waterview, but Im not getting the references to Park Tower or The Elysian. I guess I would have to see better renderings to understand. Anyway, I wonder whats come of this project?

I like it. It's actually the first time I've heard of this project. Has it been in the works for a long time?

^ Ahh yes, this tower is a project submitted to the Plan Commission (and approved, I think) about a year ago or so. It is residential, and the first couple of floors will be parking. However, it will also have TWO levels of retail at the base.

I have always liked it, but haven't really heard much since it was first announced

Its hard to tell much at all from that watercolor painting (or whatever that picture is). It could be beautiful, or boring. We'll have to wait for more.

What is going on with this project? These pictures were taken a couple minutes ago. Looks like there is some demo work going on.

Sorry they are a little blurry

I've heard that the developer will start to sell units in this building sometime this summer. There will also be a hotel on the lower floors. I also heard that demolition would begin in the near future, but this is sooner that I expected.

It's a bit disconcerting that they would start demo before they even commenced sales. None of us want to end up with another Block 37 on our hands.

Mixed feelings about this one again, especially seeing demo so quickly. The new tower has a great look and nicely proportioned with setbacks, however, I do like the lowrise buildings already there.

Land is just way to valuable I guess.
Either way something tall will go up there.
just need to knock down that awful marriot courtyard now.

Demo before approval? This is very disconcerting.

That Courtyard is the least of Streeterville's problems. I have no issues with that building actually.

Yeah, anyway, we're so going to end up with another couple of empty lots to look at for a decade when this one falls through .

Updated rendering of 150 E. Ontario - 641'-6"

That height is what's listed on the floor overview that I've received, but things could still change. Here are a few highlights on the project:

-The building is being designed by A. Epstein & Sons

-There will be a winter garden on about the 35th floor
-There will be a hotel in the building not yet in the Chivago market (should be announced in January)

-The number of condo units has been reduced from about 180 to about 100 because of market conditions.

-There will be roughly 256 hotel rooms.

-There will be about 186 parking spaces.

-The developers will be going for LEED certification.

-An amendment to the PD has already been filed with the city and the developers would like to go before the plan commission in early 2008.

Enjoy
