Some evening shots of Lomonoslvsky prospect station construction site.

A Korean Doosan near Shuvalovssky residential complex.

Actually after part of Michurinsky avenue was closed for traffic, jams disappeared. But that day it was something horrible. I managed to leave the area only 30 minutes later.

A Japanese Hitachi on the main plot.

Near bus terminus.

The main plot.

Hmmm... I use first of these stations every workday (and sometimes visiting second). To be honest, I don't feel any kind of depression due to it.

In the summertime, I often faced with crowds of astonished foreign tourists at this station. They looks far from being depressed

IMO the station are too massive. On the one hand the thickness of columns is huge and the marble amplify the massivity of the stations which give them an austere smack. I really appreciate your stations guys, there are unique and particular comparing with other systems, but there are too massive and IMO they are depressed due to marble which amplify the stiffness of the place. Moreover there is not a wide area between the middle platform and the place where the trains arrive, so you cannot see the trains from the platforms if you don't go in front of the vaults where are the entrances. Moscow metro is a heavy system like Budapest M2 or Prague system, the structure of the stations are the same but the Budapest M2 was recently renovated in a fashonable way so the station looks "cheerful". Also the new metro station from Moscow are very "cheerful".

We should also add the brightness level.

for instance this is not depressive IMO, the marble is white, but the semi darkness doesn't give the air of a very massive station even if it is.

http://www.hotelclub.com/blog/most-b...ons-in-moscow/

but where the marble is white, and the station is well lighted, all is amplified.
So:
white marble + station well lighted = depressive
white marble + semi darkness = ok
black marble + semi darkness = depressive
black marble + station well lighted = ok

It depends the combination. I've noted it also in Bucharest, were the station are also depressive depending on them brightness. Of course the station's looks are sober and imposing in Moscow. There are a mixture of factors.

This is also depressive

The thickness of pylons is huge because these are deep-level stations, and pylons serves as supports. At that times (in 1930s-1950s), these were no other more economical and reliable methods of construction.

The light marble only creates noble and soothing atmosphere for deep depths. More better than Chinese plastic.

Is it so important (when time intervals between trains reaches 1.5-3 minutes in most of day)?

To replace marble with plastic material? You may be joking.

The station at your photo is looking good, but such style is more suitable for new stations not for monumental stations of 1930s-1950s.

Of course, that was the only method. Moscow metro is an old system so it's historic monument

no it would be preposterous. I haven't said that. Moscow's stations should be exactly what they are. That's the brand of Moscow system.

for me the last design looks less depressive. New Moscow metro stations such as Bucharest metro station are also like this one from Budapest.

Perhaps those station look a bit depressing on my pictures as they were taken in HDR mode, like I said. They're actually bright. Except maybe for Baumanskaya.

Yes, I noticed that the metro stations, in reality looks better than in photos, due to light which in photos is less seen, or if you use the flash is powerful than actually it is.

I really admire the workers that work in the open on Metro construction sites like the Lomonoslvsky Prospect Station in the extreme cold of Moscow winter.
Kudos to them!
