THE OLDEST METRO ESCALATORS IN THE WORLD.

И сама станция.

I decided to take detailed pictures of it as they have been running SINCE 1944! This is a world record.

Since January 1st, 2015 they will be closed and replaced by modern ones.

That looks good.

I read somewhere Moscow is planning to replace its count-up clocks with count-down clocks, which is long overdue (they do have them on Line 4 outbound in stations east of the split).

How do "count-up" clocks work?

They show the time that has elapsed since the last train left the station.

This is test train which uses for testing of tunnel and other systems prior to opening of stations for passenger operation. The "main office of laboratory" (with measuring instruments and PCs) is located inside yellow-red wagon.

This is testing of such system at Prospekt Mira station. I don't like its design and I don't think that this is necessary when intervals between trains are 1.5 minutes in peak hours.

About post #3137. Does anyone have an idea what station the 70+-year-old escalators are at?

Apologies for asking the question; I only asked this question because I don't understand Cyrillic text very well, and I wanted to have an idea where the escalators are.

No one has told about the replacement. Count-up clocks are made for train operators, not for passengers. Considering that during rush hour we have 85 - 90 seconds between trains (and imagine one having left the station with the following appearing right in 35 - 40 seconds), and usually no more than 3 - 3.5 minutes off the peak and even far into the night, countdown clocks are no need.

For those who love small scale models.

Official Moscow metro twitter published a net for the newest generation trains, which are 81-760:

A piece of heaven, at least when they don't show the test-train .
