The manufacturer is Metrowagonmash company (part of Transmashholding) which producing Metro cars for Moscow already for 82 years. Of course, some elements of design were borrowed from foreign manufacturers (in particular, from Almstom who has 33% stake in Transmashholding). The buying of end-products (like Metro trains) from EU states become very risky nowadays.

Though they are in most trains in Moscow Metro and in most new commuter trains. Supposedly they are better for winter.

Leaf plug doors are common in gemran systems. Unfortunately they are not really better than others in winter. Itīs because of the necessary power for the movement which is necessary to close the doors definetely (two movements instead of only one at older doors).

Imho the mechanism is more complicated, so older door-systems prove to be more reliable. The control if the door is really closed is more complicated than with older Systems. The main thing is that every european supplier tends to build leaf plug doors in Europe (not so in Asia). Cleaning of metro-cars is easier but mostly the construction of the car is easier as the side-walls can be more slim.
