Sorry, I forgot that there is a separate topic for MCC.

It's starting. However, trains are more suitable for MCC.

They belong company "Central Suburban Passenger Company" (CPPK). After the assignment of the carrier's rights for MCC to RZD, the history of the trains took a different turn. In addition to the CPPK and RZD, other carriers operate on Moscow, exsample, "Moscow-Tver Suburban Passenger Company" and "Aeroexpress".

RZD is lobbing ЭС2Г «Ласточка» (Sinara Group, Siemens Desiro) and CPPK is lobbing ЭГ2Тв «Иволга» (CJSC Transmashholding).

The future Stromynka station. The architectural design is made in the style of the 1930s. The decoration uses the Art Deco style, used in some of the oldest stations built before the Ring Line. Why this topic at this station? This station will be a transfer to the first station of the Moscow metro, where the first passengers took the train on May 15, 1935. Ultimate project for ultimate metro.

Sorry Google translate

This one looks rather confusing... How do I know whether a train's going to Kuntsevskaya or Mezhdunarodnaya?

They could either put up a light to indicate if I should follow the top or bottom map, or perhaps just replace it wholesale with LED screens like on the new Moskva trains?

I found this confusing as well, particularly since the shared stations before branching are offset. My guess is that you can infer based on where the red bar starts, but it's not intuitive at all.

Well I think you have to read the writing in front of the train before the train arrived (and remember it when reading the map). When you use the metro it won't be that confusing

You need to determine direction before entering into train, not when you are already inside it. There are installed special indicator tables with names of terminal stations (and time remaining till arriving of trains) above track ways. Also, there sounds information at the station if train is riding till Mezhdunarodnaya. In addition, the name of terminal station writting at the electronic table of the head carriage.

I noticed that the station names also had the English translations underneath.

Question: Could somebody visit Moscow without learning some basic Russian?

The thousands of foreign tourists who don't speak Russian are visiting Moscow every day, so why not?
Of course, it silly to expect that ordinary Muscovites will freely speak with you at English. But if you have good book guide and your hotel have foreign-speaking staff, I don't see any problem.

In San Petersburg all stations have English translations. In Moscow the new ones only.

I strongly recommend you to learn at least the Cyrillic alphabet to be able to read not only the metro station names but also the road signs and the street names.

Fabri....

I have been studying Russian for some time When I finally do 're get' the number for my native-born Bulgarian friend, I speak to him in Russian. He responds in EXCELLENT English!

In my opinon, he speaks better English than many of us native-born speakers; I was born in Etats Unis d'Amerique.

Sometimes, I might even speak to him in French and German Including his mother tongue i russki, moi druk bulgarski zhnaiet shestb yziki
