The new stations look awesome, they make an impression of conection between the old style stations and the modern look.

BTW that Slavyansko Bulvar station takes obvious inspiration from the Paris metro, but why?

not really inspired by paris metro. it's just an art nouveau stylization.
may be because moscow wasn't building metro stations in art nouveau for over 70 years. and because the station is located in the park and named after nearest boulevard.

Very saddened to hear about the attack on the Moscow Metro. Any innocent people getting killed is tragic. Moscovites, i'm sure, will recover from this quickly.

Sorry but I never usually look in those forums.

Maybe this is more on topic; how come there were such large crowds in stations that were unaffected by the bombings? Were people trying to escape the metro because they feared there would be more attacks or were all stations evacuated?

OK, I will answer what I heard.

Both explosions happend inside cars, not on platforms full of people. And platforms were not necessarily full of people in the vicinity of the blast.

The second blast purportedly was only hafl the intended power - one of the two suicide belts has not exploded.

People have been orderly evacuated from the stations where blasts occured but there was not panic or and stampede of any sort. Fewer than normal people have seen in metro the same and next day (by about 1/3).

But I post to ask why was that Vokolomskaya station abandoned? For how long?

It is located on exsting working stretch ot Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaja line between Schukinskaja and Planernaja.

Built in 1975 for a planned, but never realized neighbourhood in this area.

Never had cladding. Old render:

Currently Spartak FC football stadium is planned in the area. If stadium is bulit, the station will be finished, opened, renamed Spartak.

It's not a render. An unused design was lately used in Tashkent Metro. It's a real photo.
