Draft plan of the new Kozhukhovskaya line "Nizhegorodskaya ulitsa" - "Nekrasovka" on the east of Moscow approved.


Bigger

black - existing lines
Maroon - under construction
red - new Kozhukhovskaya line
Crimson - Third Interchange Circuit (northern part) and Kozhukhovskaya line common part
thin pink - Third Interchange Circuit (southern part), planned
Brown - Moscow Little Ring Railway, planned

Line length - 14,6 km, number of stations - 7
Planned transfers:
"Kosino" - line 7 ("Lermontovsky Prospekt") and Ryazan Railway;
"Nizhegorodskaya ulitsa" - Third Interchange Circuit, Moscow Little Ring Railway and Nizhny Novgorod Railway;
"Aviamotornaya" - line 8 and Ryazan Railway.

Well we can now say metro construction in Moscow is the fastest in Europe. Hope all the projects under Sobyanin will be completed in time. But the idea of stopping to build after 2020 makes me worry as the plans up to 2020 are still not sufficient for the city.

I remember i have read few years ago that to reduce overcrowding of metro they need twice the amount of current lines.

Three are tones of ideas what to build behind of 2020. Plans simply not being made such a long term. Plans behind of 2020 we will see in 2018-2019.

M. Husnullin has already mentioned that they'd stop building metro after 2020. I hope I a, wrong.

Now they are improving that things, also there is a strong automotive lobby, but hopefully ground transport will take some passengers away from metro.

Moscow is large city. For transportation on long distances, even ideal ground transport will never able to replace Metro.

That's not true. Moscow metro is much heavier that almost any European metro, and the niche of Metro and other surface public transport in Moscow are totally different. None of the surface means of PT can't replace or take away passengers from metro. Perhaps, in some cases that may be done my LRT, but not less than it.

While in Europe metros are generally not much "heavier" than buses and trams. There average speed is also comparable.

Not to replace - that's impossible. But some riders use the Radial Metro+Ring Metro+Radial Metro scheme, even if it's a direct bus or trolley between two metro stations - because of unpredictable nature of last. If authorities will succeed in this, it will help metro greatly. Also surface transportation can replace metro in short trips (like 1 or 2 station long) on deep-bored sections.

Yeah, that's totally true. But metro also have a number of extra passengers that travels a longer and less effective way through metro (like radial+ring+radial) because of congestions and lack of bus|trolley|tram separation.

I hope to, and i hope the new expansion to Moscow include express lines to center. (i think they can use cut and cover and put 4 rails there)
