Can't imagine how that place will look like in approximately 10 years. Now just a hole with desert around it. Then maybe a whole district full of beautiful skyscrapers and towers. Only in Dubai.

WOW, thanx imre as always, one of the supertalls for dubai again.

Is this tower structured similarly to the sears tower? As sears tower from bird eye view is divided into 9 cubes, is this one divided into 7 bending cylinders?

Its funny how much green the architects put in the rendering on the board of BAA - also the Signature Tower Plot is only a nice park....

It's because the render is old.

@Deepfield: Okay, I see.

But another fake is the position of Sheihk Sayed Road Skyline in the background. I can see Rose Rotana Tower and Millenium Tower and DIFC Zone =D

But it doesn┤t matter...BAA is a amazing tower and I hope it raising fast!

Watching these pictures made me wonder if there are any extra challenges when building a huge building in such dry soil.

Huh, are you saying that building in wet/muddy/slippery soil would be easier?

I'm not assuming anything, I'm just wondering the main differences...see, I'm not a civil engineer.

Actually it would be easier... very dry and very wet soil isn't good for construction but somewhere between with the correct grade of humidity you have the best load-bearing strength.

But some kind of sandstone at BAA (pictures) should be alright...
