The picture is from 18th , thats Wednesday. Feels like everyday is a friday for this project.... :-( . i used to see huge ADs of this one all arround UAE way back in 2006, and got into jeopady of some kind long before the financial meltdown. Now,I guess it would be next to imposible get this up , But.... love to see this stucture rise....

Yes- it's one of the best designs I've ever seen.
Sadly, it seems completely dead.

Burj Al Alam is being built by a private developer. What the government is doing is relatively unimportant for the construction of single skyscrapers.

Not when the construction firm is owned by the government

the Fortune Group which is building the BAA is NOT a state-owned company, it is private.

So it is likely that the construction of Burj Al Alam will continue despite the debt standstill, isn't it?

I think this tower will definetly be built. But the question is when. Fortune Group must land tenants and a construction loan. So they have to seek financing from banks willing to bankroll the project. With the negative news coming out this week regarding Dubai World, banks are going to be very cautious.

There has been a lot of publicity about Dubai's financial troubles this week, even in the US. Almost all the major newspapers here in the US are covering the story.
