After correction for perspective (using the horizon which is a bit hard because it is hazy) and using 350m as the height of Jin Mao up to the piont where it start to taper (from diagram on skyscraperpage.com), I find 198m for the current height of WFC, with 5m margin of error. Simply speaking, 200m is correct.

Nice one egramsbergen!

I thought it was close to 200m but I think we would hear about it if it was. I beleive your calculation is accurate, its grown very quikly in the past few weeks. Its going to be fun when the cladding starts making its way up the structure at a faster pace, might start a raffle to see who can guess the day its finished

I prefer the design with the round hole. And the idea from Mori ,the company which is the owner of the building,to put a giant wheel into it on the observatory.

This tower is so remarkable, without a doubt it will be one of my favourites. Thank you very much to those who are posting the updates, it's so exciting to watch this wonder progressing.

Mr Mori Fudosan the boss of "Mori building" (the company which give the building in order) wanted to put a giant wheel in the hole of the previos design.Like the millenium wheel in London but just put on the planned observatory of the building.Mr Fudosan is a theatrical client and loves it when people enjoy his buildings.

But does anybody know why the design change from the round hole to the cornered hole???Maybe because of the wind impact or so????

I think the wheel would have been pointless. What's the point of going in an observation wheel where the starting point is already well above 400m? The view from the top of the circuit would be very similar to that at the bottom. So what's the point? It would just lock people in the capsule for the time it takes to rotate. Pointless!!
