it would be bad if the train swayed a few inches due to a gust of wind and then hit a metal pole or something because it was installed in the wrong place.

This seems to be a common thing on most new rail systems, where the among very first trains of any kind of use the new line is one with this bit of equipment on it. So its sort of interesting to transit nerds and regular citizens to see the test train make an inauguaral trip.

Lincoln Station looks close to completion as well.

Note the sign displaying when the next train will arrive and its destination.

There's no point extending it all the way to Chilliwack, there just wouldn't be enough demand.

The extension that makes sense is to terminate the service in Abbotsford.

How is this going to work operationally? Will all riders have to transfer at Lougheed Town Centre?

No, line will co-line with the millennium line into VCC-Clark. People will have to transfer at Commercial to get downtown, but the project also includes upgrades to the Commercial station.

Is there really enough demand to justify two lines from Lougheed to VCC? Or will the new line operate less frequently?

I'm guessing yes since they went ahead and built it. Its the rare project that doesn't meet or exceed ridership projections.

It's only one line. The Evergreen Line is really just an extension of the Millennium Line.

SkyTrain will have the following lines:

Expo Line: Waterfront -> King George
Waterfront -> Production Way-University

Millennium Line:
Lafarge Lake-Douglas -> VCC-Clark

Canada Line:
Waterfront -> Richmond-Brighouse
Waterfront -> YVR
