Although I'm very suspicious about this, it would be great if Paris gets around 3 supertalls reaching 400m. But just 1 such tower is enough to please us all
BTW, who here thinks that the Tour Sans Fins could be resuscitated?

They are trying to show a new dynamic défense, I don't think they will be doing so by constructing a 15 year old abandoned project

Another one that we should see under construction pretty soon is the tower behind Ariane, as the former building standing there has already been destroyed last year. Unfortunately, this one will only be around 180-200m...

London will have a much better skyline than this by 2015. We already have 3 200m+ towers, so London has the taller buildings (the 245m heron tower starts next year as well). Plus we will have the 1,016ft (300m+) LBT under construction next year and the 300m+ AOD bishopsgate tower by 2010.
'La defense' looks even more boxy than canary wharf, and 10 years is ages away. London will be miles ahead by then.

Lol, I'm starting to wonder if there isn't something genetic about it.

Both Paris and London are European cities, the way I see it is that the more tall buildings each city has the better. Instead of being jealous of one city and defending the other I chose to like both and each new project in each city gives me pleasure. Come on Londoners, overcome your jealousy and embrace your love of tall buildings, that way you will get twice the pleasure when these fantastic projects start construction. London and Paris will both have fantastic skylines by 2015

Personally, I'd wait to see what the Burj Dubai will look like before experiencing such tall towers. I'm not sure that the taller is always the better. The question would be to know if that indeed brings something good at the skyline or completely ruin it in squeezing the other buildings.

Check NYC. The WTC dominated Manhattan's downtown and they were 400m-tall. Let's imagine we build a monster of 800m instead. That building would be easily 500m taller than any building around. It would litterally kill Manhattan's skyline forever.

I'm really sceptic about towers above 600m for that specific reason. La Défense should be seen as a cluster, and what matters the most is the harmony in the cluster. Especially knowing that LD ends a strictly straight perspective which starts at the Louvre.

Personally, I'd like better one tower of 450m, another of 350m and a third one of 300m than only one of 600m.
