Birmingham has quite a few but for many this is the main one

Arena Central - 150m tower (6, 50-60m towers)

This masterplan is located inbetween Birminghams current tallest office block the Alpha Tower (100m) and the Hyatt Hotel (75m). It will help Birminghams aim of becoming a leading skyline in Europe and recognisable across the world. Its in a cluster where 4, 100m+ towers are planned aswell as being situated on Birminghams skyscraper avenue where currently a 130m, 100m, 92m, 90m, 90m, and 70m towers are located.

With planning permission for over two million square feet of mixed use development secured, Arena Central, the next major regeneration scheme for Birmingham city centre, is under way.

Developer Arena Central Developments LLP - a joint venture between Miller Developments and Bridgehouse Capital - will deliver offices, residential, retail and leisure accommodation including 2,100 car parking spaces.

Set around a new public square, which will form the centrepiece of the development, there will be up to four new office buildings totalling some 500,000 sq ft.

In addition to a new landmark residential tower containing approximately 500 units, a further residential zone will be created with four buildings containing a total of approximately 600 residential units, grouped around a second public space. It is anticipated that work will start on this £400m scheme during the second half of 2006.

"Arena Central is the next step in the development and regeneration of Birmingham's "west end" following on from the resounding success of Brindleyplace, the ICC and Symphony Hall.

"We have planning permission for over two million square feet of mixed use development and MIPIM will be a great opportunity to let everyone know about our plans for Arena Central and how our exciting scheme sits alongside other developments in the city." Steve Evans, Director of Arena Central Developments.

The 7.6 acre high profile site is bound by Suffolk Street Queensway, Broad Street, Bridge Street and Holliday Street and is immediately opposite the International Convention Centre and Centenary Square - one of Birmingham's most high profile public squares. It also incorporates one of the city's tallest buildings, Alpha Tower, a fully let 200,000 sq ft office block and the existing 284-bedroom Crowne Plaza Hotel.

I doubt that the complex with cluster of 4 100m+ towers will help Birminghams
aim of becoming a leading skyline in Europe. It sounds stupid indeed. There are many european cities which have wonderful skylines with having already constructed centers

I just looked for some skyline pics of Birmingham and you were right, these relative small cluster won´t improve the look of the skyline that much.

That's right.
The buildings receiving extra presentation seem to be the €100mio+ projects:

1. The new Breidenbacher Hof

2. Königskinder

3. Spitze Speditionsstraße
