Did you like the WTC's?

Of course, no one (well, at least no american) will ever forgot the 9/11 attacks, but what about the main targets?

Did you like the World Trade Centers? Were they pretty or pleasing to the eye to you? They were both some of my favorite buildings....

I can't say that I "liked" them. Apart from their size & height they had little going for them visually--at least for me.

However, I find their demise devastating.

The design was nothing particularly beautiful on the surface, but they had a stark, blunt presence that formed an essential part of the scenery. I'll never forget my first view of New York City: the silhouetted twin towers rising from the horizon through the early morning mist.

The design wasnt the best.. It was its height that mattered.....
I think in a city, to make it real...you gotta have original, brutalist type skyscrapers and not something like high end..glasses towers all the time...

Petronas were better but the WTC was still amazing. Wish they were still there.

People complain that they were the worst examples of big boxes ever, but I think that their design was perfect for their location. They complemented the Lower Manhattan skyline perfectly. A lot of people say they like the design of Petronas better, but imagine them in the WTC's location... yikes! Also, the design would have sucked if there had only been one of them instead of 2.

We can have them back.
The solution is very simple.
They have started construction on the Fraud 'em Tower.
Just build a twin and there 'ya go!

I think they should just build the WTC the same....only stronger and bigger...

I agree, however - they call the shots.
They started construction of the Fraud 'em tower.

All we can hope is that they realize that a twin would look good.

And forget about that stupid ugly pit in the ground over the footprints they call, "reflecting absence".

Reflecting absence? That's nonsense!

Of course. They were some of the most ionic in NYC. But I'm waiting to see how Freedom Tower will fare for Lower Manhattan.

They were kind of bland and very gray, so they were kind of boring, but they added a lot to the Manhattan skyline

Their design was nothing out of this world but with their massive presence looked great. I still prefer WTC than the more stylish Petronas.

Not really. After 9/11 i ended up seeing a multitude of pre9/11 photos of the WTC and I gradually grew to appreciate them more. Before 9/11 I just thought of them as bland, but tall towers.

They were beautiful buildings. Whenever I thought of a skyscraper, the World Trade Center came to mind. I really hope they rebuild them the way they used to look. NYC needs those two "blocks" back.
