I think that even their simple design stood out in elegance and made a lot of impact. Definitely iconic and symobols of an era. Its very unfortunate that they were destroyed.

I found the WTC to be one of a kind in the fact that their flagship buildings were two towers of almost the same height.

What is truly sad is that on September 11th of this year will mark 5 years since they were destroyed and the entire site is still a huge hole in the ground.

Even if they rebuild, the terrorist have already won. They got to not only destroy the two tallest towers of New York, but they got to keep it that way for a minimum of 5 years.

Will it reach 10 years before something tall is built?

Maybe 15 years?

Never?

The real terrorists are the families of the victims, who are preventing the twin towers from being rebuilt.

Shame on them!

The idea of terrorists is to make sure that terror will reign supreme over happiness.

Hi Everyone. First post here. I have to admit I really disliked the WTC. Having visited the WTC, Sears Tower, ESB,.etc., I have to say that the WTC was the one I liked the least. This is hard to say given what happened and all, but I found it to be stark and cold..very inhuman in scale, and the design was bad IMO.

The WTC Twin Towers weren't exactly the most pretty or original skyscrapers imaginable (although very 'in your face'!), but because of their location and surroundings they became beautiful, impressive, even elegant in their own right - and a true landmark. In turn they also added to their environment - it's the symbiosis that made the magic happen, imo. They are missed...
