bikes, wonderful pics but can I make a suggestion that you put the date on all of them in the description / file name as I wasn't sure what order they were taken in, or when after all so many were taken in March! Me, I use a format like 6-12-31 (ie Dec. 31st 2006) - that way all images will appear in date order... and the construction should be finished by 9-12-31 any pics on the same date I add a,b,c,d, etc.

I agree about the floor space being really small near the top floors and verging on practically useless - I imagine that a lot of the floors near the top of the cone that look like actual office floors will be used for telecoms equipment - but disguised to look like part of the rest of the building.
The point is that in rising in such a design for the first 170+ floors it'd look silly with a flat stubby tip. The design needs to carry on until all sides converge.
As to who'll occupy them. We already know that it goes Hotel, apartments, viewing platform (120ish) then offices to the top - so they're not apartments up there. And wasn't there some comment about the developers taking residence on the highest office floors. But the highest ones are going to be about 5x5 metres - and somewhere in that is going to have to be a stairwell/lift and some form of core!

That or the highest floor (189) could have a really high converging cieling... with nothing in it.

The top floor will be 160. We've been over this many times. The height was increased, not the floor count.

They said they will have space that can be used up to floor 160, so that means there have to be a few extra floors for extra mechanical stuff, etc. Also there won't be any 5*5m floors, that would be pointless, and expensive. Instead they'll disguise the spire so that you don't see the transition from the actual floors and the spire

Yeah, basically.

Yep it's not hard to slow the setbacks for the steel structure. It can be done.

Still don't believe the architect and the engineer? And the articles quoting them?

I especially don't believe that stupid elevator render, because since the last time we discussed this I've started working as a graphics artist for developers. They'll show you blue prints that say one thing and tell you to draw something different. Sometimes the blueprint is wrong or outdated. Or they'll tell you to "be creative," or suggest some kind of dishonest slant.

The elevator render has little to no credibility compared to the architect. Stop living in a dream world and picking the number you like better.

Burj Dubai: ~810m (source:doka), ~160 floors (source: Adrian Smith).

STR 160F

dubaiflo 189F+

we will see.
and btw i do believe in 810m. that sounds reasonable.
though i still think it will probably more than that.

for the 189F, still don't believe Emaar is selling offices to F189?

It's just a render, it means nothing. You will see and then feel stupid.
