Montmartre by CVRKI

Montmartre sera toujours Montmartre no need to give an introduction, IMHO

À celle-qui-aime-Montmartre

Streets and bits of Montmartre

Poet Tristan Tzara's house built by Adolf Loos

Next house belonged to Francisque Poulbot, a cartoonist, thus the cartoons on its façade
(elle appartient aujourd'hui à Orlando, le soeur, pardon la frère de Dalida )

The "Moulin de la Galette" dance-hall, here the lower part with the "Radet" mill

"Le Blute-Fin" mill, other part of the former "Moulin de la Galette" dance-hall, too bad it's lying on a private,
thus closed, very charming alley and cannot be visited anymore

Rue Lepic, this building is covered with an old scenery from former nearby dance-hall

Now we're entering the way too much touristic core, way too overcrowded

Voilà ce que je n'aime pas à Montmartre, pire qu'au Mont-Saint-Michel

The boringly famous "Place du Tertre", or what is left of it

The booby-, sorry tourist-traps

Ladies and germs, the Sacré-Coeur ta-da !

More streets and bits of Montmartre

Seems to me that all paths lead to... well, it's written on it

Right "La Bohème", my favorite café here (presque aussi bien que le Quick de la Place Clichy )

My favorite monster french Saint-Sava

Fugly but fascinating

The usual scouts sitting next to the church on a frozen ground, as usual

The view from Sacré-Coeur's main entrance

A screwed pano, sorry anyway, scroll, if you dare --->

The beast, again

Saint-Pierre de Montmartre, the real Montmartre church, from the XIIth century onwards

The Blob's bell tower, very "Benito M" IMHO

I've told you, I'm mesmerized

Back into touristic reality

Looks like someone has Ctrl-Ced Edith Piaf's voice and Ctrl-Ved it on this woman

Quoi !?! Encore la Place du Tertre !?

Tourists from everywhere Italy, Spain, Poland, ex-YU, Russia, the US, Italy, Spain, Poland... mais personne du 6-5

The big thing in the background isn't a part of Sacré-Coeur but a water tower

The "Maison Rose" (Pink House) restaurant

Montmartre's vineyard

Across the street

The famous "Lapin Agile" music hall

Streets and bits of Montmartre, the sequel

Rue Lepic, again and the Montmartrobus

Rue de l'Armée d'Orient, THIS is Montmartre

The final purpose of north-american pension funds

Et voilà !

CVRKI, you have betrayed your dear EE forum by not posting these beauties there! I had to come all the way to these shady parts of the forum to find these photos!

So yea, I love Paris ... tell me something new. Montmartre is just gorgeous. I really hope I can visit it in person one day. Until then, I request that you make an Amelie and Da Vinci Code photo tour for all of us that can't be in Paris, unlike some lucky dogs! Or shall I say frogs? I kid, I kid.

I can't believe you think the Sacre Coeur is fugly! I think it's spectacular!

Also, it's kind of sad for me to see the streets full of people. It's such a shame there is so much overcrowding. Somehow, it loses some of it's atmosphere with all those tourists.

Anyway, thank you for the photos! Looking forward to more, especially my requests!

Thanks to you folks !

@Sergei : regarding Da Vinci Code, I'll have to read the book first ( ) or watch the movie ( ), since I don't know which areas, excepted the Louvre maybe, are related to the story ; regarding Amélie, that's exactly what I wanted to avoid, "Amélie's Montmartre" but since you people insist I'll take it in consideration

Why did you want to avoid it? You didn't like the movie, or you think it's already been shown too much?

To me, it's interesting to see how things are in real like that you've (1) seen on film (Amelie) or (2) imagined from reading the book (The Da Vinci Code).

The movie's really cute but since then Montmartre is too often shown the "Amélie way" and it's getting boring...

To me too, but as a fan of "The Third Man" I've been pretty disappointed not to find the movie'a atmosphere in today's Vienna (better for the Viennese since in the movie the city is a mess ) and this is sorta dangerous game to play because one often gets disenchanted by the comparison
