Sheffield's Walk of Fame

In last nights Star they officially annonced that Sheffield is to get its own Walk of Fame a la Hollywood!. Beginning later this year the plaques on the pavement outside Sheffield Town Hall. Some of the first famous sons to be honoured include Sean Bean, Micheal Palin and Helen Sharman. The plaques will be unveiled in the L.A style later this year by the chosen celebrities. It is hoped by Sheffield councillors that the Walk of Fame will become a big tourist attraction.

Tacky and unoriginal. Can't see this doing anything for the city. If they spread it out around the city centre at least it would then turn in to some sort of treasure hunt and encourage vistors to tour the centre.

there has been talk of this since about 2 years ago. Its that long over due it think everyone forgot about it. But at least now they can add Michael vaughn and arctic monkeys!

I think its a good idea, something I dont believe other cities (except London) have.

Its only a few paving slabs, not worth moaning about really.

I will be interesting to see if they include some of the industrialists that made this city such as Henry Bessemer.
