completely disagree. Sorry but IMO all of those (except maybe Al Burj) deserve to be there, and the Shard is worthy of 1st place.

A well deserved 1st place. Agree with Newcastle kid. The only reason people voted for al burj is because it's rediculously tall. There tons of better proposals around (in Dubai and elsewhere) that should have been there. I would have liked the new tower of russia to be in the list

Of course you both have to say 'Shard London ! '
Because you both r from England
It's impossible a 300 m tower win that contest,IMO
If fordham spire was built in London
You both would say '' Fordham Spire ! ''

I find it really frustrating that people have to assume - just because we happen to be from London - we voted for London Bridge Tower. Is it not just possible that we voted for it because we genuinely think it's the best proposed skyscraper?

We are quite justified in choosing the Shard which is obviously a stunning world class project, and will transform the skyline of one of the world's most famous cities. Why should we be made to feel guilty??

Check out the official website, it's a simply stunning project... a beautiful piece of architecture.

Even if the design was better?

Look at the other thread - best under construction skyscraper - and you'll see the Flower of the East Hotel which is barely more than a midrise by the looks of it, and yet nearly 30 people are voting for it (myself included) because they love its design and other attributes. It's up against the likes of Burj Dubai and the Shanghai World Financial Center, but it's doing very well and could even finish in 2nd place!

I certainly wouldn't want a 600m hypertall skyscraper in the middle of London. In fact, anything over about 400m would look ridiculous and out-of-scale in this city. It's all about context.

Will, we should do this one again, as there are so many stunning projects out there right now. I'm sure SOM's design for San Francisco would be in the top five.

I agree. Many new and exciting proposals have come and gone since this the poll was opened, and that was well over a year ago. A new version of this would be beneficial.

Beautiful tower.

London simply has some of the best proposals on earth right now. They may not be the tallest, but they look fantastic (or will look fantastic). Maybe one day, London will have a taller tower, but for now, this one will be a perfect addition to an ever-growing skyline.
