Tell you what, I feel shame as many developing countries (although we are same status) airports are keeping it better than us !

I support AA when they taruh MAHB kau kau weeks ago.
It is a beautiful architecture, but maintenance wise is inadequate

New RM50m CCTV system for KLIA
Published: 2012/06/08
http://www.btimes.com.my/Current_New...CTVIA/Article/

SEPANG: The Kuala Lumpur International Airport has installed a RM50 million closed circuit television (CCTV) system to keep travellers, especially the disabled, safe and secured.

The new CCTV system was successfully implemented by a consortium of GTC Global Sdn Bhd and Panasonic System Engineering.

The system is able to track the disabled travellers from a distance through movement tracking from airport ground all the way to the aircraft, GTC said in a statement.

"The upgrade exercise which was completed last October saw the designing, commissioning, testing and delivery of 2,075 digital Internet Protocol-based new closed circuit television replacing its 14-year-old analogue CCTV system," GTC said.

Malaysia Airports general manager Mohd Suhaimi Abdul Mubin said the system serves as an exemplary reference to address the importance of airport security in the region.

GTC specialises in supplying and maintaining integrated security surveillance systems and broadband solutions. Its clients include state governments, town councils and private entities.

WHSmith to open stores in KLIA, Langkawi
Published: 2012/06/26
http://www.btimes.com.my/Current_New...cle/index_html

Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi airports will be home to iconic United Kingdom-based retailer WHSmith when its first stores in Asia open their doors later this year.

Faizah Khairuddin, Malaysia Airports’ Senior General Manager Commercial Services, said she was delighted by the international travel retailer’s decision to open their first venture in Asia at Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Langkawi International Airport.

"Travelling presents a great opportunity to read books and magazines. With the opening of WHSmith, passengers will have access to a wide range of reading material from a world-class book store, underscoring the Malaysian government's drive towards a deeper appreciation of reading," she said in a statement today.

WHSmith chief executive Kate Swann said WHSmith stores will open this summer in KLIA, offering customers a wide selection of books as well as a wide range of magazines, stationery, travel accessories and convenience products.

"Two stores in Langkawi International Airport are also planned to open this summer," she said. -- BERNAMA

KLIA regsiters 16m passengers until May
Published: 2012/06/29

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), including the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal, registered passenger movement of 16
million until May this year, up 5.1 per cent from the same period a year ago.

Datuk Abdul Hamid Mohd Ali, Malaysian Airports Holdings Bhd chief operating officer, said this is a good sign that KLIA is capable of achieving 40 million passengers towards the end of the year, compared with 37.7 million last year and 34.1 million in 2010.

"For the first quarter of this year, KLIA recorded a 6.9 per cent growth in passenger movement to 9.53 million from 8.92 million in the same quarter last year," he told reporters at KLIA's 14th anniversary celebration in Sepang, Selangor today.

He said KLIA has a capacity of 25 million passengers currently, while that of LCCT is at 18 million to 20 million passengers, hence the new KLIA 2 is needed to accommodate the increase in passenger movement every year.

He said KLIA's capacity can be increased to 70 million passengers upon full completion of KLIA 2.

"When KLIA 2 is completed, LCCT will be closed and all low-cost flights will be transferred to KLIA 2, because we have provided the complete infrastructure to accommodate the low-cost carriers," he said.

On the anniversary celebration, he said KLIA has proven its role to be among excellent airports and received various recognitions locally and internationally. --BERNAMA

other airlines flying in perhaps, or AK's route performed better than others. EK also upgraded their equipments to A380. With Garuda increased their CGK-KUL-CGK to thrice daily. That's one of the few la..
