Great. Especially for Prekmurje, which has to orientate to other types of farming.

About Luka Koper enlargement in English:

Luka Koper Plans Investments to the Tune of EUR 450m

Luka Koper, the operator of Slovenia's sole seaport of Koper, plans long-term investments in the amount of EUR 450m for the extension of two piers and the construction of a third pier, chief executive Robert Casar told the daily Finance on Wednesday, 19 April.

The extension of the container pier by 350 metres, estimated at EUR 110m, would effectively double transhipment capacity, while the expansion of the second pier would provide additional space for about 60,000 vehicles a year as well as liquid cargo.

After the first pier is extended the company plans to start building the third pier, which has a price tag of EUR 180m. It would span 41 hectares and have the capacity for 600,000 container units a year, Casar told the business daily.

The third pier, once finished, would be a dedicated container pier, while the first pier would be used for cars and general cargo. Casar said that additional capacities are also planned in the hinterland, to make room for the handling of about 450,000 containers a year and a distribution centre.

The long-term objective is the transhipment of one million container units a year, Casar explained. The investments would be funded with long-term loans and European funding.

However, Casar was quick to point out that these projects would be in vain if the second rail track between Koper and the mainland hub of Divaca is not built by 2015 as planned.

It is "mol" in Croatian, although in some coastal dialects it also might be "molo", while "pomol" is also "mol" lol, but could also have metaphoric meanings - example : "vidim novu nevolju na pomolu" which freely could be translated like - "i see a new trouble on horizon"

No more obstacles for PCL

Slovenian National Review Commission has finally rejected a complaint of AM Development regarding Potniški Center Ljubljana (Passenger Center Ljubljana). The rejection was final.
That means the negotiatons between Ljubljana, Slovenian Railways and TriGranit can continue. It is expected they will meet next week. TriGranit already promised they will be able to finish PCL in 2008.

PCL will combine few towers (25 level, 2x 16 level, 1x 12 level), a new bus station, a new train station, 4900 new underground parking lots... There will be a cinema, conference halls, a hotel, malls, appartment buildings, recreational facilities... Masarykova street is expected to become a boullevar (with fancy trees...) and there have been some discussions about a city railroad although there seems a bit to far for now. The whole project is estimated around 250 million €.

The 1st phase (till 2008) will be a new railroad station, a new bus station, the biggest tower and few other buildings (the main facilities of Potniški center Ljubljana - Passenger center Ljubljana).

One of the visions:

Hmm.. za mene je taj projekt promasaj. Ne zbog izgleda, to ce 100% super da izgleda.. No, kad se vec takvo nesto gradi onda bi se moglo staviti taj dio zeljeznice koji prolazi kroz najuzi dio centra pod zemljom. S tim bi se dobilo ogromno puno prostora i moglo bi se na njemu jednu sasvim drugu vizuru grada sagraditi.. no dobro..

I agree with you. Many members of the City Council and urbanists said it should be done the way you suggest. Maybe it even will during the negotiations, but I doubt it.

I like the design too. Ljubljana City is this a rail terminus? Therefore the trains wont procede beyond the main station. I too think they should make it underground to free up more space. Hopefully they expand the suburban rail network for Ljubljana.

Luckily, this plan predicts possible implementation of lightrail system which would also run on existing rails. It will happen, but it's a question when. Not in this decade though.

Well, the railway comes in from two sides if that's what you're wondering. It's basically a station, although it's the terminus for most passenger trains.

I agree with you guys though that the railway should be underground. I think this might be realized when high-speed rail comes to the city. But that won't be anytime soon :P

In this photo, there are quite a few of outer airoconditiong units attached on balconies and facades. How much it costs in Slovenia to install these?

Ehh one more thing, i've been searching for photos of Croatian made boats, yachts and cruisers in order to open a thread about them. So i have also come across these Elan boats - Power E35 and E42. Both models are manufactued in Obrovac (Croatia), by Elan PBO which is owned by Slovenian Elan.

Now, i want to know; are these Elan boats from the Croatian factory above only for Cro's market or wider?

Elan Power E35

Elan Power E42

awesome looking boats!

Nice boats. I thought that Slovenian Elan was actually owned by Croats. Can anyone confirm who owns Elan?

Skimar, whose biggest owners are Kapitalska družba, NFD 1 and DSU. I see no Croats
