Well, I'm not a Packers fan. I'm a Lambeau Field fan...so I have no idea.

So the construction of a temporary facility to facilitate a full on expansion of Lambeau Field will not work? Even if this temporary facility were reasonable in it's capacity?

How about YES, provided, under the condition that the stadium gets a full on expansion which comprises of a 2nd tier, bringing it over 100,000 in capacity.

I don't think an expansion of Lambeau Field's capacity to 100,000 is even feasible, even at this point.

The Green Bay Packers announced Thursday that they will add approximately 6,600 new seats in the south end-zone area of Lambeau Field and will add a new gate and rooftop viewing platform in the north end zone.

The project is expected to cost $130 million. The franchise also announced it would move up its construction plans, and now will schedule a groundbreaking on the project on Sept. 1.

The team had initially said it would break ground after the Super Bowl this season.

As expected, the Packers said they would finance the project, which is expected to be completed in time for the 2013 season, with no public tax dollars. And the team said they were still considering a stock sale; it would be the fifth such time the Packers have offered such a sale.

For me, I think it would look so much better if it was just one huge tier, rather than looking like three seperate stands.

Well it certainly changes the character of the place and I am not really a fan, gonna look mighty unbalanced. Although they really do need more seats.

Yeah, they certainly need more seats. But these artist renderings really look unbalanced and woould destroy the overall look of this phantastic ground. They should try to fit expansion stands to the bowl-feel of the stadium in its current state.

Wouldn't it be pretty cool to host the IFAF World Championship at Green Bay?

Packers' stock sale approved by NFL

By Don Walker of the Journal Sentinel
Oct. 8, 2011

The Green Bay Packers have received NFL approval to conduct a stock sale to help pay for the team's $143 million expansion project at Lambeau Field.

In a statement, the NFL said Commissioner Roger Goodell determined that the stock sale "meets the appropriate conditions established in 1997 for such a sale in order to raise funds for stadium renovation."

On Tuesday in Houston, NFL owners will be briefed on the Packers plan, but there is no ownership vote required.

The NFL statement said the Packers have an atypical ownership structure that is "grandfathered."

"In connection with the club's last proposed stock sale in 1997, our office determined that the Packers are entitled to sell stock for certain purposes consistent with the 'grandfather,' namely for capital raising purposes such as stadium improvements.

The site where you can buy your chunk of the Packers, and help fund that really ugly addition to Lambeau, is here:

http://packersowner.com/

The thing that really makes me thing that you are really getting gouged here, is the $25 for "postage and handling". Do they have players stuffing the envelopes or something?

By the way, did the Kenny Chesney concert leave the field inside Lambeau in pretty bad shape?

Will any damage to the field hinder any chances of Lambeau hosting any future non-sporting events?

If they wanted to do really big renovations to Lambeau the Packers would probably play at Camp Randall, U of Wisconsin's stadium temporarily (Capacity of 80k). They used to play there for exhibitions games.

GREEN BAY - Lambeau Field (73,128 > 79,700)

I don't have a lot of images handy, but the Green Bay Packers (NFL) recently began construction on a project to add about 6.6K seats, along with other improvements, to their stadium (Lambeau Field).

I like the way it looks, but with the way that the expansion juts out, as compared to the height of the rest of the stadium, that will take some getting used to.
