hello.
DAMN. the City of Silk is nothing short of breathtaking. it's simply amazing. after reading all of the information that everyone here posted, along with the CivicArts website, i must say i'm pretty proud of Kuwait. obviously, my favorite part of it all is the Mubarak Tower... 1001 meters, 250 floors; we're a SERIOUS threat to New York (Freedom Tower, 571 meters), Chicago (Fordham Spire, 610 meters), and Dubai (Al Burj and Burj Dubai at 700+ meters). so this must mean that the Mubarak Tower is about four meters per floor. wow. i read an article somewhere that the Tower might use triple-decker elevators; the first in the world. this tower is a record-breaker in many ways! however, i think that the main flaw in this project is the name of the overall development and the tower. Mubarak Al Kabir Tower and the City of Silk? i personally think that the tower should be named Burj Kuwait or something along those lines. as for the city's name, "City of Silk" sounds a bit cliché or metaphoric. hm. whatever. it's a great project no matter what. i hope the first phase starts construction soon; if the Jaber Al-Ahmed Bridge is going to start this year and will take about five to six years to complete, then the City of Silk's first phase should also be completed, right? Otherwise the Bridge will lead to nowhere (a massive construction site), and that's not a very interesting prospect. we'll see how it all goes. go Kuwait. kuwaiti_patriot |

The video is just magnificent ! This just goes to show how different Mubarek Tower is to Burj Dubai. Check out the Masterplan it shows all the intricate details of the city including the North and South Islands

What a strange tower looks like it's from another planet. I'll put the 2 images together.
BTW is it supposed to lean over like that? I doubt any sort of stunts like this could be pulled with a structure so large and tall. Last edited by malec; April 4th, 2006 at 04:51 PM. |

Do you mean the protrusion coming from the middle of the skyscraper which is on the right of this pic ? I was wondering about that too. But I don't think it is that hard to apply. |
