Stratford Eye looks like a cheap version of One Gunwharf Quays at nearly half the hight. I dont like the idea of the whole thing being blue.

I think that's the best designed tower going up/built in Stratford so far.

Yeah, its a nice building. I like how it looks like a modern, taller version of that little Art Deco building in the foreground.

Shame it's up for demolition. It used to be where they packaged Lavender Soap.

Really? Ah that's a shame, I've just done a uni project on it. It is indeed the old Yardley Box Factory.

DarJoLe - do you know when it's to be taken down?

It's on the site of the proposed 150 Stratford High Street development, but that's gone in for a redesign. Considering the pace of things around this area I doubt it will be there for much longer. I believe EH didn't really care about it going but the 20th century society did, as it will be one of the last (and best) examples of the former industrial buildings that hark back to its history as soap factories.

Agreed. Would've been nice to see this retained as it is both a perfectly respectable building and an important piece of Stratford's history.

150 Stratford High Street now incorporates the Yardley box factory! Hopefully CABE will give this the thumbs up now.

Well it's certainly better than what it currently looks like.

In my move back to London I had to rent something quick - I have ended up in bromley by bow - what a shit hole. I took a bus full of toothless urine drenched old people to Stratford shopping center - god was that an experience. Oh, and you should see the original sales material for my flat - ducks floating in a pond, beautiful people - yeah more like dead pigeons floating in a pond of motor oil and piss. Best build quick this market is a joke - there will be a BIG TIME CORRECTION - it's already started.

Bromley-by-Bow is one of London's most up and coming areas.

The tower blocks are getting a makeover for 2012, some in the area already have.

How is it sarcasm? If you look at what is being proposed for the area, in terms of new residential development, the Olympic Park and the regeneration of the waterways you can see how the investment is being turned into real results in terms of house prices as well as the wealth of people moving into the area. In ten years time this area will be completely different from what it is today.

Model of 150 Stratford High Street from the New London Architecture exhibition. The oval planned tower is Icona (completed), the block with one curved corner is currently under construction and the square angled tower on the edge is to begin construction in the summer.
