Great news... The Philharmonie de Paris project, a symphonic concert hall of 2400 seats, has been relaunched. Few days ago, President Sarkozy confirmed to the Mayor of Paris Bertrand Delanoë that the 160M€ funds (out of the 350M€ project) promised by the State are going to be released soon.

The 'Philharmonie de Paris' to be well delivered late 2013

Just bouncing back on Sacre Coeur's previous post. Here's an article from today (it's in french though):

Quote:

Work is to resume immediately according to Sarkozy, therefore we can expect the cranes to be back on site in the next few days...that's really great news, this Philharmonie truly is an extraordinary piece of architecture, would have been terrible if it had been cancelled...

It will be (along with the 'Fondation Louis Vuitton pour la Creation') a fantastic addition to the city of lights .

Well, they haven't been designed in that purpose, but obviously, as they're twin towers they inevitably remind some people of those of New York.

'Europa City' gets the green light!

Quote:
The pharaonic commercial/cultural/leisure complex located in Gonesse (near Roissy), is now underway after being given the 'Go ahead'. This 2 billion € project being part of the 'Grand Paris' nor is another Disneyland nor a big supermarket but a real touristic destination as much for the 'Fanciliens' as for travellers in transit, no matter whether you are on your own, with your partner or your family.

The idea is for the complex to be a showcase of Europe, consisting of 5 different worlds: British, Mediterranean, Nordic, Slavonic et French. For its promoters, there could be for instance a Harrods department store for the UK and a Galeries Lafayette for France...

Philharmonie de Paris

Hadn't seen this rendering before...

Such an extraordinary architectural gesture, I just love it. After an 8 month break due to financial issues, work is now to resume very soon, at last...!
