Is that 800 million shopping mall being built or when does the construction start?

You're welcome. Another info dating from yesterday (in french though):

PS: @ SO143: the first phase of the CANOPEE project has already started, they've started demolishing the previous Halles :

It's a gigantic project, its delivery is to take place in...2017.

1972 is the date to bear in mind...indeed, it's been 39 years that a skyscraper hasn't risen in Paris intra muros! The very last one dating from 1972 was the...Montparnasse Tower. That's why TRIANGLE's construction will be a real 'revolution' for the french capital .

According to this diagram : http://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?...1765&offset=25
The latest highise buildings inside Paris were the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand in 1995 and the Tour Cristal in 1990. They are shorter it's true but we can't really say nothing happened since 1995.

Tour Triangle is located in an exhibition area near a motorway. There's not a real difference of location with Tour Mozart, which is built few hundred meters away in Issy-les-Moulineaux. The Triangle is clearly not a city center tower. I'm happy to see that the forum is back online.

You're right Clery, but indeed the buildings you're mentionning are respectively, 79m for the BNF; 98m for Tour Cristal and 100m for Sequana...Now it depends on what you call a 'gratte-ciel'.

Quote:
As you guys can see, it's far from being easy...but to me a skyscraper really is 150m high (minimum), therefore Sequana (100m)only is a 'highrise' and Triangle will well & truly be the 2nd skyscraper in Paris since Montparnasse Tower .

I look forward to it so bad...

Anyway, if you like "Triangle" so much, why don't build this project in Nantes ?? 'cause believe me, I pray every day for that "thing" not to be built here...(especially because I'll see "it" from my apartment in Paris)

"Please, please, dear Lord, make them build that thing in Nantes".

I'd love such a project to get built in Nantes but it won't happen before 50 years...

Well you'd better commit suicide right now as Triangle's definitive green light is coming closer & closer. I personally am so extatic, I look forward to seeing that gorgeous new parisian landmark take shape.

PS: see the positive about it, you'll have a jewel to gaze at by night! (And come on, it won't cast shadows, well, not much, the 13ème is an awful area, it does need a huge facelift...)

Well...just like me right now ! (I'm in southern France, near Toulouse)

---------------

@Jex: No, I won't kill myself (especially for such a trivial issue ), but still: IMO, this tower is ugly as hell !
And no, I won't be really happy (unlike you from your home, several hundred km away) to see 'it' rise, from my Parisian apartment !

Well, you can already count yourself lucky to have your own flat in Paris' heart dude! Finally, I really think that Triangle is stunning, but let's wait for it to get built before giving our verdict.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
First skyscraper in capital for 30 years

Quote:
Herzog & de Meuron’s Paris pyramid has received the go-ahead by the city’s cross-party council which approved a protocol agreement for its construction in the south-west area of porte de Versailles.

The privately-financed building, which is still being opposed by heritage groups, has been downsized by ten storeys to 40 storeys since it was first unveiled in 2008. Plans for a museum, swimming pool and hotel have also been abandoned.

Practice founder Jacques Herzog told French daily Le Figaro that the building, expected to cost £470 million, would use wind and solar energy.

It will be the first skyscraper to be built in the French capital in 30 years, since socialist mayor Bertrand Delanoe introduced a ban on high-rises.

Work is scheduled to start next year and to complete in 2017.

Ok, this is totally OT but:
"lucky" ??? Maybe I worked in order to own it, don't you think ?

And about Triangle...well....like you say, we'll see when it will be completed, but I'm more than worried, especially since one of the main facades (the ugly and "fat" ones) will be turned towards my district.

I'm sure you did, but the expression 'to count oneself lucky' is rather translated by 's'estimer heureux', I do know that luck has nothing to do with that. I just think that it's sometimes annoying to hear some people whining wrongly. Some have been on a waiting list for ages to hopefully get a decent place to live (actually most of the time it deals with a shabby and narrow council flat in Paris'suburbs...), some others live like cattle in rat holes, I'm not quite sure that it's fair to complain, you deserve your flat as you must have worked hard to own it but your position is a priviledged one especially at a time where getting a flat in the capital is a 'luxe' . Triangle is very likely to become a stunning new landmark for Paris, it won't be an eyesore imo (unlike some hideous square shaped towers). Having a flat overlooking a splendid piece of architecture is not what I'd call a tragedy...could have been a lot worse (cimetery, railway station, a football venue...), and most importantly, if you were to sell your flat some day, it will be going up in value owing to Triangle...!

Approved project of Cultural and Spiritual Russian Orthodox Center in Paris .

Russian Orthodox Church

(2012-2015)

Even though I first prefered Borel's project, the more I watch those renders the more I think that the best project was actually chosen! It's gonna look fantastic, especially at night with that huge glass veil...Well, one more jewell to gaze at in our beloved City of Light, I really look forward to it .

What's funny is that this project will be built just beside the Franco-Russian avenue!

Thanks for sharing this project Jex. It's indeed a great one. It's not far from the American church by the way.

I don't like the new halles, the best at les halles was be able climb to the top and see the whole view of the area, and now it will not be able to
