You mean "try" as in rugby, when someone scored.

So anyway, don't you guys have anything better to do?

Some nice pictures of Carpe Diem's cladding by Bnmaddict.
The more the building rises, the more it becomes interesting.

Maybe you should educate yourself, because I guess you don't know where the white flag originates from, do you ?
The plain white flag is the former French flag, so nothing surprising and nothing insulting to associate it with the French army, dear .

Quote:
Until the adoption of the French tricolour in 1790, the plain white flag flew at all battles, but it had nothing to do with capitulation. On the contrary, it became the symbol of furious struggles, both on land and at sea. So how did the white flag come to signify surrender? It seems that when the enemies of France surrendered, they were often compelled to fly it as a sign of capitulation. After France adopted the tricolour, flying the white flag continued among all belligerents as a sign of surrender or ceasefire.
Canadian Military History Gateway/The White Flag As A Battle Flag

Oh and btw, another of the "best things" that the French army does, is to test and carry our numerous nuclear weapons... Beware !

Get over it, bitter aristocrat, French monarchy is long dead since more than 2 centuries now.

You've lost buddy, move on.

I don't see what the French aristocracy has to do with the plain white flag.

French aristocracy ≠ French monarchy, in case you didn't notice . One, aristocracy, still exists (officially, and it's even protected by the laws of the French Republic, whether you like it or not) and has always existed, even during the Empire and during the Second Empire etc, the other one, monarchy, is indeed dead. See the difference ?

BTW, I wasn't there 2 centuries ago, dear ! (so I didn't lost)
Not to mention that you seem to forget that numerous French aristocrats were republicans back then, most of these republicans aristocrats were Girondists (e.g. Marie-Anne-Charlotte de Corday d’Armont aka Charlotte Corday, etc).

So, I think you'll have to find another topic (try to find one that you know a little bit better than this one) if you want to attack me....

PS: Oh, and I'm sorry to remind you that the French history didn't begin in 1789, like many uneducated people think ...And the pre-1789 history is not evil or whatever.

Didn't I used the present tense ? Yes, I think I did. (and as far as I know the Echelon system is a US thing... while the Frenchelon is 100% French, I don't think it's that hard to understand and BTW it was the reason of my original post on this topic)

Anyway, apparently some of our Brit. friends are "a bit" touchy on the military topic....

I didn't use that term, or even implied something like that. France can be independent militarily and "inferior" eventually: that's two different things.

And the simple fact that you understood my post in that way, is, well, quite telling regarding the touchiness of some Brits on that topic.

Anyway, we're way off-topic.

And the best thing you can do is posting nonsense on an internet forum.
