Great news tonight regarding the 320 m (1,050 ft) Tours Hermitage. All the lawsuits filed by all the opponents against the 8 demolition permits have been rejected by the administrative court of Cergy-Pontoise.

The developer Hermitage still needs to find an agreement with the owners of the neighboring properties before starting demolition of these ugly buildings to make way for the Tours Hermitage.

A fuller article in French:
Quote:

There has been so many ups & downs with Hermitage, so for now, I will not celebrate.

Mostly ups in fact. Were have been the downs?

So far the opponents have always lost in courts. Their only "success" was that they managed to block the demolition until an agreement is signed with the owners of the neighboring properties, but that's no big deal, because the demolition couldn't go ahead anyway while there were lawsuits pending against the demolition permits.

As long as Putin remains in the Kremin, the project has finance and time on its side. It's a prestige project for Russia. They'll wait for as long as the French justice process takes to work out and they'll build it.

The first one from Carpe Diem is amazing Indy G! Such a density is clearly unique in Europe.

Here's another great picture from Angelius showing Carpe Diem.

It looks cheap from some angles & depending on the light (like in the above pic indeed), actually just like the Shard's looks cheap from some angles as well . That's a Made in China cladding, one cannot expect much better...

Luc Besson unveils 'Film City' Paris studios

SAINT DENIS, France - French filmmaker Luc Besson cut the ribbon Friday on his "Film City", a vast studio complex created in a disused power station to offer Hollywood-style facilities right on the edge of Paris.
"I had always said I'd love to make our own films here in France," Besson told an opening ceremony under the glass and steel vaults of the 1930s plant, a giant turbine brightly painted by local street artists towering in its centre.

“French romances occupy a central position in the development of medieval European
literature. Their most popular subject matter by far was the Arthurian legend, which, though it
had its origins elsewhere, was first cast in romance form in France: the Round Table, the
tragic love story of Lancelot and Guinevere, and the notion of the Grail quest were all French
innovations."
