Tour 13 - Street Art in Paris

Tour 13: Parisian Tower Lures Street Artists

A housing project set for demolition in Paris becomes a giant canvas for the world's street artists

A 10-story housing project earmarked for demolition in the French capital this week will turn into a temporary Tower of Babel for street art.

Mehdi Ben Cheikh, owner of a Parisian art gallery, has invited over 100 visual artists from around the world to redecorate some 36 apartments, as well as the façades and staircases, before the building is flattened next spring.

The result is a rich mosaic of street-art trends, from the works of French graffer Alëxone, a comic-book fan, to that of an Iranian street artist who goes by the name A1one, known for his Tehran street graffiti.

Tour 13, as the art project is called, is set in Paris's 13th district, and will open to the public tomorrow for one month.

I think it would have looked just fine with new paint and black window frames. It didn't need those coloured things on the facade.

Stunning. Paris skyline is easily one of the best in Europe (just after Frankfurt which is No.1 IMO).

But frankfurts towers are taller and better quality and cladding, paris has one cluster and some commie blocks, the only city with multiple clusters is London and Istanbul. Paris should demolish the commie blocks by the seine and build some modern luxury apartment towers like London is doing, but make them taller than la defense and better cladding, then paris would be great and start to catch up with London, Moscow and Frankfurt, but this is all just my opinion of course and different people have different views
