Doesn't really look like they're building anything new, just recladding old stuff.

If you look like the inside, there is big difference between before and after.
This is called facadism, you keep the facade but the rest of the building is new.

The philharmonie is really coming along well now. You can recognize the form, I'm sure it will really be an exciting summer as the cladding is applied.

I hope so, considering the price that it costs ...

HS : in a few days, we'll know the new mayor (and probably the last according to the new Métropole de Paris -fingers crossed) of the richest and biggest city in Europe.

Anne Hidalgo
(******* socialist) or Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet (******* democrat)

They both don't support towers (Anne Hidalgo just supports Tour Triangle because her socialist predecessor Bertrand Delanoë supports it), but power will perhaps makes the next Maire de Paris/Président de la Métropole de Paris pragmatic, we'll see ...

Reminder : Tour Triangle (180 m) at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles (4th convention center in Europe)

There is no "democratic party", that's UMP i.e. the conservative party.

I very much agree about the pragmatism subsequent to becoming an administrator...

And the Green Party (the new partner of Anne Hidalgo) supports the towers?

Imagine a great capital as Paris being governed by the socialists and the communists.

(Yes, that women has as partners the communist for the City Council.)

That's what kept it from selling itself for money as London has done.

I saw on their anglophone page on wiki that "democrat" is the international affiliation of the UMP

Selling itself for money?

You mean having a great and spectacular economic, transport and social development? That's what is in reality the normal thing to have if a city is doing is job properly.

Paris has fallen shamefully behind the others World Capitals, but now is its time to wake up and succeed.

Paris is way too beautiful and deserve so much better that what it has right now. And Paris has all to be in the Top 3 of the World Capitals.

It's totally off topic, but what do you know about the management of communist cities ? It's extremely reducer.

I don't know where you may have read that information but i'm afraid it's not very true. Paris is still ranked 3rd or 4th amongst Alpha cities (along with N.Y, Tokyo and London), she is still the first economic power of Europe and produce the 4th largest urban G.P.D. in the world.

It's growth may have slowed a little due to te economic crisis, but she have recovered it's pre-crisis gpd for a while.

I have understand that you want some changes, and i respect your opinion as we all hope that the new mayor will imrove the city and allow Paris to stay in the podium. Let's just remember that the city still host an impressive number of little/mediums/larges projects , even if as an SSC member, i would like to see more towers outside la Défense (but not everywhere!). And no matter who will be elected , because the strengt of the city lies in it's people : Paris will always be Paris.
