Halles Secrétan, Paris XIXe - Paris Métropole Centre

The rehabilitation of this listed building, built by a student of Victor Baltard, has been an operator / architect initiated by the city of Paris competition. To respect the history of this building, the architect planned rehabilitation of Halle in its original volume. The shops will inject a new dynamism to the neighborhood.

“French romances occupy a central position in the development of medieval European
literature. Their most popular subject matter by far was the Arthurian legend, which, though it
had its origins elsewhere, was first cast in romance form in France: the Round Table, the
tragic love story of Lancelot and Guinevere, and the notion of the Grail quest were all French
innovations."

I'm not very convinced about this last one. It is going to be the worst space in Versalles by far. It is known exactly where is going to be placed?

It replaces the former grove which disappeared after its destruction by the great storm in 1999. There is nothing to this place currently, it's just a wasteland :

So, it's better to have a contemporary grove rather than nothing. (and these golden pearls are rather not bad, the contemporary art sucks in general)

And how it was before? In any case I think it is also a good idea to make more fountains and groves, in fact versalles is quite big and more spaces can be used!

There was already 2 versions before, this contemporary grove will be the third.

The first one was the original "Théâtre d'Eau" under Louis XIV, a Le Nôtre's masterpiece :

Unfortunately, it was expensive to maintain. So it was destroyed under Louis XVI and replaced by "Rond Vert", a simple grove :

This one was devastated in 1999. The new grove will be finished in 2015.

The render looks very dodgy indeed but Othoniel is a really good glass artist, I saw his work exhibited. He also has a metro exit decoration in Paris (Palais Royal), which I love but I'm sure it will have looked awfully kitschy in the design...

It is not ugly. It reminds a necklace, quite appropriate for Versailles.

However, I think it is too basic compared to the artwork and the deep sense signification of each other parterre (glory of the roi soleil, submission of the courtisans, monarchie de droit divin, punition of the nobles implicated in la Fronde etc etc). This will be the poor parent of Versailles gloves.

It represents the dance steps of the Sun King.

For me, it's a good addition to the gardens, not as good as the original of course (because Grand Siècle >>>>>>>>>>>> today), but for a modern grove, I kiff.

Tour Saint-Jacques

The tour Saint-Jacques is opened to public every weekend this summer (you must buy tickets online here http://www.desmotsetdesarts.com/offr...-saint-jacques ). On top of it, amazing panorama right from the center of Paris!

..to the east:

..to the north:

..to the west:

..and to the south:

The Canopée and Montmartre

The Louvre and la Défense

Guys, I will visit Paris in the first week of August. Will the Tour d'Eiffel renovation be finished by then?
Merci d'avance pour votre réponse que j'espère favorable.
