The Second Book of General Ignorance

“French romances occupy a central position in the development of medieval European
literature. Their most popular subject matter by far was the Arthurian legend, which, though it
had its origins elsewhere, was first cast in romance form in France: the Round Table, the
tragic love story of Lancelot and Guinevere, and the notion of the Grail quest were all French
innovations."

It's still funny to think they planned to destroy it after the Expo and now we try our best to modernize the most paid-visited monument in the world, our dear dame de fer

Paris, European capital of shopping

Quote:
Already recognized as the world's top tourist destination, Paris turns out to be also for foreign tourists, "the European capital of shopping." According to a study released Tuesday, 50% of those surveyed prefer to do their shopping Paris, to London (25%) and Milan (18%).

A study by the international consulting firm Abington, released Tuesday, examines purchasing habits of foreign tourists. Its conclusions are clear: Paris is the "shopping capital of Europe." The survey of international law firm Abington, conducted among 603 Brazilian tourists, Chinese and Russian, in June and July 2014, shows that it is seen as "the perfect city" for shopping.

Paris, before London and Milan

Abington firm has chosen to focus its study on nationals of these three countries as they are in his opinion "the potential for tourism development the most important" for Paris.

50% of those surveyed prefer Paris for their shopping, to London (25%) and Milan (18%). According to them, the attractiveness of the French capital based primarily on "the breadth of the Offer", followed by "exclusive products" and "price level." They are 51% to buy clothes, souvenirs 40% and 38% of cosmetics and perfumery. This diversity reflects the richness of the Paris commercial offering that combines quality craftsmen and traders, industries and major prestige brands.

Shopping, motor tourism

Thus, 30% of foreign tourists who visit Paris are shopping for "primary motivation". A figure that rises to 45% for Russian tourists, attracted by both luxury brands by consumer brands. The biggest spenders visitors turn out to be Brazilians, whose average budget amounts to € 6,150.

Abington this study, following those of PwC and KPMG, once again demonstrates the ability to Paris to combine economic attractiveness and exceptional heritage. A unique balance, plus a world-renowned gastronomy, a dynamic contemporary design and urban ecology expanding.

I love the cladding on the Philharmonie. So shiny! Absolutely amazing. This is going to be one special building.
