it's wonderful i think in 2012 Paris will have the best skyline of Europe
Well, AXA Tower is actually 245 m including the spire, and Morphosis Tower (aka tour Phare) is 287 m from the concrete slab, i.e. a slightly taller from street level, but I don't know how many more meters. As for Ferrier's 325 m tower, it's not called Hypergreen, it is an adaptation of Hypergreen for La Défense, and let's remember that nothing is official yet for that tower. So wait and see...

LOL the cheek of some people

Anyway I am happy for Paris if it gets the Ferrier tower, it looks good especially the base. Many architects have said it is the street level that makes or breaks a tower. I still don't like Genrali or Phare though

I must confess I started to like Ferrier's work after watching this video:
http://www.jacques-ferrier.com/tourphare.swf
But well, if we had videos for every other contestant, maybe we'd change our opinions about the other projects.

I'm sure every architect has a fascinating tale to tell about its creations. What would be interresting, besides the exhibition is a detailed account of each project by its respective architects.

I agree. It always helps you appreciate the architecture more if you know the storybehind/what inspired the design IMO

No JP. I don't believe so.

Anyway, let's get a bit serious. As long as I haven't read anything from the EPAD mentionning a location for Hypergreen, I will consider it as extremely hypothetical. Renderings, schemes and gossips are good, but what we all hope for is to see concrete rising.

As for the reason why people like better the new version of Hypergreen than the former, it's simply a matter of rendering. Well, Hypergreen version 2.0 is more sober than the initial version. The first version looked very industrial, somewhere it reminded me a factory chimney. The new version is probably more conventional, and the top is really great with that leaning ellipse crowning the building.

I think the reason why so many people changed their mind about that tower is more about this than about height. To be honnest, I didn't even know it was supposed to be 325 meters when I've changed my mind about it. The second version is in my opinion more elegant than the initial version. Now this being said, I agree that this is only a matter of taste !

Can someone posts the models here of Gautrand project's base? It seemed pretty awesome and I saw them somewhere before but forgot where.

@metropolitain

The first design was better than the proposal for la Défense which is cheaper. Look at the thread about Hypergreen in Issy, you'll see anybody liked it before underlining its height, its design.
Hypergreen was so uninteresting than anybody wrote in the eponymous thread about the concept...

Puteaux 's information letter reveals as well as Tour Phare two high buildings will be built. Is Viguier inclused? what about the ministry?

Gautrand's proposal looks like it´s clad in 50s wallpaper.

You're probably right, really, I don't know. I guess there's a lot of subjectivity in all this. Let's compare both renderings :

Hypergreen v1.0 :

Hypergreen v2.0 :

Well, the initial version is probably more expensive, but the cladding and the summit look both "unfinished"... as if it was about an industrial chimney under construction. On the other side, the new version is undoubtedly more classic, but looks more "finished", more like a "skyscraper".

Of course, the renderings are of a better quality for v2.0. That also plays a part in people's view. I guess that somehow we all have a biased perception about what is, or what should be, a skyscraper. Somehow, those who like better the new version than the initial version, like me, are conservative. I don't know. But really, at least in my case, my view has changed on that tower because I've been more seduced by the new design than by the former.

The signal tower "scoop" had already been unveiled several days ago, nobody noticed page 34?!!!

My favorite project after Mayne is without any doubt the project of Ferrier.
I like the base, the integration on the ground and the aspect of the cladding.
On the video, the light at the top is magic!
I hope it will be built nevertheless in an other place in the district.

This is the base of Gautran's tower. Absolutely fantastic (although I'm less convinced by the rest of the tower). An out-of-this-world monument it would have been.....
