Hermitage should never get build. It got an awkward design, off proportions and will screw the skyline pretty much.

La Défense is off proportions but it's a self-contained world of financial greed and skyscraper experimentation.

Much better those towers than any Tour Triangle.

Oh please, let's not spread hollow anti-capitalist/anti market economy phrases here, that's sawing off the branch we're all sitting on. And statism/socialism/protectionism causes most of France's problems, not capitalism... Think of "social" housing banlieues, mismanagement due to state-driven interventions in the economy/shareholding in partly state-owned companies, and other remarkably stupid ideas.

But I agree, Hermitage shouldn't be build, but Tour Triangle would be even much worse for the cityscape of Paris. I never liked wannabe-bionic Tour Phare either. Sadly, I can't think of any really good skyscraper proposal for Paris 200m+ of the past few years.

Hermitage Plaza will be great for La Defense by adding luxury commercial spaces, spas, restaurant, and hotel (which are all lacking). The project will most importantly bring more life to the area and will redevelop a frankly horrible part of the district. It will also break a psychological barrier that prevents the construction of supertalls, and high rise residential towers in general.

Finally, I have to say, I find them absolutely beautiful.

Bouygues Takes Stake in $3.3 Billion Hermitage Towers Project

uilder and real estate developer Bouygues SA has taken a minority stake in Hermitage Plaza, a 2.9 billion-euro ($3.3 billion) project to build two skyscrapers in the business district of La Defense near Paris.
“We’re putting our technical credibility on the table,” Bernard Mounier, the chief executive officer of Bouygues Batiment Ile-de-France, said at a press conference in Paris Tuesday. He declined to provide details of Bouygues’s investment.
The stake was bought from Hermitage Group, whose Chief Executive Officer Emin Iskenderov said that details of the financing, as well as the start date for the project, will be announced soon.
The twin 320-meter tall towers designed by Foster+Partners will include 540 luxury apartments, a five-star hotel, offices and shopping areas. The project has been delayed in recent years as building permits have been challenged. Some appeals may still take place, Mounier said.

I have a question regarding Hermitage plaza.I've read that a new law in France has come in action saying that all new buildings built have to have their roof partly covered either in solar panels or flora,so I'm wondering if the roofs of the two towers will be green spaces or covered in solar panels.

This law only concern commercial or industrial zones building. So only the endless sea of metal boxes you find at cities doorstep. It does not concern regular buildings suchas as offices and housing. For instance , the biggest commercial zone in France used to be "Pland de campagne" near Marseilles. Google earth it and you'll find what i'm talking about.

The somewhat milky, semi-luscent cladding looks pretty apt! Promising at least.

La Defense is finally turning into a more lively, mixed district. A lot was done wrong in the past, much more is done right now. They just need to find some developers with a taste in architecture...

For other central city districts, tower heights should be limited to <120m. An Art Deco or streamline-classical tower would be a great homage to the early modernism of Paris and would suit the area very well. Plus it'd add something more timeless.

A tower similar to this, just larger and evolutionised:

(Théâtre des Champs-Élysées by Auguste Perret, 1913)

(Grand Rex de Paris, 1932)

This would say "Paris" in so many more ways than any random international style glass box/dil.do ever could.

Are you thinking of this by Auguste Perret?
