I think Paris is too "shy" when we speak about modernity.
The projects are nice but below the major projects standards i can see everywhere to be qualified of "futuristic"

I don't see disrutptive project for now.

So... All that Grand Paris thing is just a cute naming for some internal social/cultural connections in the IDF? I thought, they've changed official borders of the city((

Me too. As a matter of fact I found it a little odd.

Well, officially the GP metropolis will encompass 7 millions inhabitants, so something like 60% of the urban area. But yeah its budget and its responsibilities are not yet complete. As far as i know it will take care of public transportation and will have some right about urban planning. Still other administrative boundaries will still have rights, that should lower in the time and be transferred to the GPM. Not as we would have wanted, but things like this take time in this country....

^ What does 'modernisation' mean there? I hope they don't ruin this magnificent piece of Beaux Arts architecture with some modernist crap.

for 400 millions, the minimum they can do is to demolish the old facade and replace it with a modern curtain of glass

There's 40 photos of what they plan to do on their website (I'd post the link but can't yet).

I agree. Why do only beautiful buildings get "modernised"? Why can't ugly modernist buildings get "classicised"?

Roof access!!!

It seems like almost all of the work will be to the interior galleries and some roofs. The important historical beauty of the stonework and iron atriums will be preserved. Circulation between the galleries will be improved, via a modern staircase and new corridors.
