You recently told me on another thread that you've got nothing with modernism, you like good architecture from any style, including modernism. I didn't really believe you and for good reason it would seem.

“Luxury”, the inevitable adjective to qualify a likely “hand made” project including independent and quality brands
Louvre ditrict is not Rue de Rennes or Grands Boulevards

It's time to modernize La Défense, the '70s are long gone. I hope that this is just the beginning of what we would like to see in this area.

Paris to close Champs Elysees to cars one Sunday a month

Socialist mayor Anne Hidalgo said her plans for the boulevard was one of a series of environmentally friendly measures planned for 2016

Paris' Champs Elysees avenue will be closed to cars one Sunday a month to let pedestrians reign supreme, the mayor of the French capital announced on Wednesday.

Socialist mayor Anne Hidalgo said her plans for the elegant boulevard, a focal point of the city often used for national ceremonies, was one of a series of environmentally friendly measures planned for 2016.

Other plans include permanent pedestrianisation, starting in summer, for a stretch of high-traffic road bordering the Seine's right bank.

Thousands of Parisians strolled down the nearly 1.2-mile Champs Elysees on the last Sunday of September when it was closed to cars as part of a Europe-wide day-without-cars event.

Hidalgo said that all of Paris would be closed to cars when the event is held again this year.

Lined with museums, theatres and luxury shops, the 10-lane Champs Elysees is a major tourist draw in one of the world's most visited cities.

It is also a major east-west thoroughfare for one of the swankiest neighbourhoods, running from the Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe.

It seems the renew of La Défense already begun, especially with the completion of First, Majunga, Athena & D2, and the imminent starting of Trinity, Air 2, Alto and M2
By the way, and in parallel
--> Refurbishment of residential housing in this area
--> New housing and services for La Défense (Refurbishment and extension of Les 4 temps Mall, Arena 92 in progress, ..)
--> New public spaces (Table Square project for 2017, new commercial areas under the slab, ..)
--> Refurbishment of the Majestic Grande Arche

And, if lucky, Hermitage Plaza, Sisters & Hekla coming soon..

The constructions of towers in La Défense did not stop in the 70's :

There was the 80's with Total Coupole , Total Michelet, the Great Arch, Séquoïa, Eqho, Japan tower ........

Then the 90's: SG towers, EDF, Adria, Cèdre, Coeur Défense .......

2000's: Granite, T1, CBX, and all those listed above

The old tower has much more character than this Air2. It should be preserved and renovated

This is good! I feel that automatic trains are much more reliable. But this will put some people out of their jobs..
