These AXA this renovation will dramaticaly change La Défense's skyline. At last there are two substiantial projects going on.

Me too and that's possible, since the building is empty for renovation (already) and the permit is given then works can start pretty soon from now.

I like the new skyline of LD in 2015 very much!
I think it will be Europe`s best skyline because of the density of skyscrapers and the great variety of the new skyscrapers.
Better than in London or other cities!

The building permit for the 164m (538 ft)-high twin towers in Levallois-Perret has been issued. After the bankruptcy of the Spanish developer, it is now a Saudi developer that is investing 1 billion euros to build these twin towers. They are due to be completed and opened in 2012.

These two towers are truly revolutionary in the sense that they will be the first skyscrapers built outside of La Défense and the City of Paris. The local mayor of Levallois-Perret, Mr. Balkany (Hungarian descent, like Sarkozy), whom a lot of people didn't believe in when he announced these towers 4 years ago, has had the guts to doggedly carry on with his project, and here is the building permit. This could herald a spree of skyscrapers in other local councils of Greater Paris in the near future ("if Balkany could do it in Levallois-Perret, why can't I do it in my local council area?"... that kind of 'me too' mentality). From information previoulsy disclosed, the local councils of Issy-les-Moulineaux, Clichy, Saint-Denis, and Bagnolet are the most likely places for skyscraper announcements to compete with Balkany and his twin towers. We'll see what happens in the coming months.

Here is a picture of the building permit that I took at the construction site in Levallois-Perret earlier today (don't kill your eyes trying to read the small text, a close-up view follows just below):

Close-up view. The French text means: "[Building permit] for the construction of a high-rise real estate complex made up of a 37-floor office building called "North Tower" and a 38-floor office and hotel building called "South Tower" joined by a base used as commercial, office and hotel premises, and six underground levels used as car park and technical premises, on a lot located 164/166 rue Jules Guesde and 84/86 quai Michelet, in block 3.4 of the Front de Seine special development area, in Levallois-Perret."

Some renders of the Levallois twin towers:

La Défense will be visible in the distance:

These Google satellite views below show the exact location of the twin towers.

The Fiat Tower appearing on that satellite view has already been demolished, and the lot is only dirt with construction machines working on it at the moment:

I don't see what this mention has to do with anything architecture or business...

A render of La Défense in 2015 on the cover page of, believe it or not, the Communist magazine L'Humanité Dimanche. It's the most complete render that I have seen so far, showing even the stylish D2 Tower (the smaller tower to the right of the New Axa Tower).

Let me guess, they say these skyscrapers are Sarko's and that's cute but won't help the poors?

A bit on the fat side but highly textured for La Defense, if built, it will contrast a lot with the rest of the estate.

Jacques Ferrier, the architect who designed the 309 m (1,014 ft) Hermitage Tower to be built at La Défense, was sacked by the Russian developer. According to a French forumer, the Russian company Hermitage found the tower too bulky and not "sexy" enough, but Ferrier refused to change the design. The project of an Hermitage Tower, however, is not cancelled: according to the La Défense Authority (EPAD) website, the name of a new architect will be disclosed by Hermitage shortly, and new renders will be released. Residents at the social estate which will be destroyed and replaced by the Hermitage Tower also told journalists that the procedure to relocate them to new buildings is continuing.

Here is Ferrier's Hermitage Tower. It will be interesting to see if the new Hermitage Tower whose renders should be published soon will look very different from Ferrier's.

And here is the ugly social estate that will be destroyed and replaced by the Hermitage Tower:

Paris mayor Bertrand Delanoe to announce next week the construction of a 180-meter tower private project in the Parc des Expositions in the city proper's fifteenth arrondissement. Architects are Herzog and De Meuron. Design unrevealed so far. Arrondissement UMP (right wing) mayor Philippe Goujon, stressed that this will be the first high-rise building built in Paris for over 30 years.

Note:This project lies on the fringe of Paris city, not right in the centre of the city.
