Although not much is happening up top, in the basement things are busy.

Ground anchors have been installed along the south wall to hold it in place. These anchors extend under Leadenhall St.

The test pile has been installed and the testing frame is being assembled. The test pile is located under the green load cell and it is tested by jacking it off the steelwork which will be held in place by being connected to four anchor piles which have also been constructed.

The steelwork for the deck trusses is arriving on site. These will be assembled at basement level and then strand jacked up to the underside of the existing building to form a deck for demolition.

I don't get it, does this mean we have reached stage 12 and the basement work begins (and construction officially starts)?

A quick rendering I did this evening.

Shows how the skyline might appear in 2009, midway through construction -

I don't think it's that they think this is 'cack' so much as were annoyed at how dismissive you were of anything outside of London. Especially projects such as Lumiere as I seem to recall...

I used Adobe Photoshop. I got a picture of the Broadgate Tower, then cut and pasted it onto a silhouette of Leadenhall, until it filled the silhouette. I then rescaled it, then adjusted the layer brightness/contrast and added a layer of distance haze to make it blend in. The cranes were added at the end.

Thats because the tower was one of three in london built in an unusual way with the floors being hung from a giant beam on the top
