What will start rising first, this or 20FC, because they just said on the 20FC thread that it won't start rising until 2012, I was hoping 122 Leadenhall would start sooner.

20FC has still got a piling rig on site and it has a good year (maximum hopefully) of basement works. Unlike 20FC, Leadenhall has no central core, and therefore should be a quicker construction. As the steel megastructure rises the floor plates reduce in size just like the Shard.

How many basement floors are there? Doesn't look too deep considering they're putting up a crane already.

A good update from one of our friends over in the UK forum, showing the erection of the first tower crane:

Aon signing up has nothing to do with it, its been announced that this is being built speculatively by BL and a Canadian pension fund on a 50/50 joint venture business deal.

All we are waiting for is the winner of the construction tender to be announced.

I know it has been announced as a speculative build, however it was announced that this would start construction a long time ago, and it got halted. Having Aon sign up would act as a safeguard against other negative external factors, and ensure construction goes full speed whenever possible

It's going to be amazing seeing this, the Pinnacle and 20 Fenchurch Street all rising together - can't wait!
